Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

Just made a forum account specifically to post about this - my housemate and I are both having the issues described in the OP. Ran a traceroute while the issue was actually happening so hopefully this helps you fix it:

It's been fine for most of the evening and then suddenly we both tried to go to the same portal and boom, Transfer Aborted: Instance not found

Sadly have to agree, was fine for a while but now back to the same old transfer issues. Sadly its back to mobile data.

So, it sounds like the problem is periodic and only shows itself at certain times? Do any of you have an inkling if roughly at the same time of day when it starts getting problematic? If it's roughly the same time each day, it might be a congestion issue somewhere out on the internet.

Who now has a static IP? If you do, has the problem gone away? Or are you still seeing it?

@Kelly I was one of the original lot to be popped on to a static IP about a week ago. There have been no issues resembling the original faults since then and my wife and I play and all kinds of times of day (late morning and mid afternoon, early evening to late evening).

As far as my issues are concerned the Static IP workaround has resolved my issue completely. Would still be keen to understand the 'why' and keeeping a close eye on this thread.

...take the IP off you for a bit and see if the issue comes back..... Do you think it would be possible? I don't want to ruin your gaming, but it would be good to demonstrate that the issue is directly related to the IP you've received.

It would be better to do that now rather than when the expansion comes out!

So let's do it and see what happens.

Whilst we'd ideally like to get to a fix, in the interim if adding a static IP improves the gameplay then so be it.

@Xume1, @tonihly, @James1o1o, @Marilya thanks for posting. I've been testing your lines and as I'm not able to find any issues which may attribute to the issue you're experiencing, I've also applied a static IP to your accounts.

Could you all let us know how your next gaming sesh goes?

As well as the above I've just applied now, I've added a list onto the internal problem IMT-2283 where a static IP is confirmed to have resolved the problem, I'll update it with the BBEUs shortly.

Having problems with dropping your connection for the dynamic one to apply, I think our wholesale system is also reluctant... if you can reboot your router you'll be routing the way you were before we added a static IP.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Weird, was running the test as requested and my router reset. Not sure if I was on a fixed or not it was 57...... now is 212......
