Hi,
As per title. Strange problem. Surfing away on the laptop wirelessly happily until the PS3 goes on line (wired) then the laptop dies. Its as if the PS3 traffic is being prioritised over the surfing to the point where it kills the surfing
Any suggestions?
Regards
David

Hi welcome to the forums
You don't happen to have a Netgear DG834PN do you? If you do that's your problem as the wireless signal suffers badly from interfearance with anything bluetooth.
If anyone else is surfing whilst I'm playing I have to use a USB cable to connect the controller to the PS3.
If it's not that router trying using a USB cable anyway and see if you still suffer..

It's the only router I know affected by it, sadly I already had it before I got my PS3 and can't justify the outlay for a new router.. yet

Ha no, it's the same issue if I try and use pretty much any bluetooth device including my phone headset.
My microwave in the kitchen, a room and wall away has the same effect on the WiFi.
It's just a poor bit of kit.

From BT 1.2 and onwards, it includes a feature called AFH. This is supposed to detect and avoid 802.11 signals.
What phone and headset do you have, maybe one of them is not working right.
The PS3 for sure has AFH enabled so should not be affecting your local 802.11 network.
Does the DG834PN allow you turn off the N mode and use only b/g modes? This may stop/reduce the BT vs 802.11 interference, it is worth a try.

the PN isn't an 'N' router, it is the specific router that is an issue as there is no other router that I am aware of affected like this - there are a others that have experienced this too from googling.
