My understanding of this IP booting stuff is that the ddos is not aimed at the router but at booting them off the game server.
As a result the home internet conection does not show any problem as the ddos stuff is actualy aimed at the game server.
A few minuites googling found various methods of "booting" players off ps4 networks. I'm not posting any links here but it looks like prevention is impossible and any "modern" player just has to put up with it.
Terrible, unfair, illegal etc but part of on line gaming now I'm afraid.
