High PING

Hi there,
I do not know what is wrong,but my PING  to Maidenhead is now (this week) about 100ms.
Last week 30ms. I have interleaving off.
Can somebody help me?

the speedtest ping is very unreliable - can you try pinging news.bbc.co.uk, that is probably a better indicator of your ping.

bring up dos
start --> Run
type 'cmd' enter
at prompt type ping bbc.co.uk
edit: sorry, or news.bbc.co.uk
but it makes no odds

sure you havent got any thing uploading in the background.
these are the sorts of pings i get when iam using more than 80% of my upload total

What is TTL there?
You have 122 and I have 58.

TTL is Time To Live, a network setting for the maximum number of hops a packet is to take before the journey is given up as a dead loss. The TTL count reduces by one for every hop traversed, and the packet will be discarded when the count reaches zero. This is a protection against packets entering an infinite loop.
It looks like one computer sends packets with TTL=128, the other 64. Normally anywhere to anywhere is no more than about 30 hops (usually far fewer) so either number is satisfactory.
