takes ages to find a game and when i do find a game and i am host every one lags bad.if i join somebody else lobby they get into a match fast so think game is not traffic shaped properly.i play with no firewall on and have open nat type and my upload speed is 18 meg so more then enough to host a game

What is the experience like with the Firewall switched on?

hard for other players to connect to me and increase in lag.no point using game mode as it makes searching for a game take even longer.gaming mode seems to open wrong ports.

and ids is turned off.router im using is technicolour tg582n.shame you dont supply netgear routers any more.technicolour router not fit for gaming

how come it takes ages for a reply?  gears of war 2 is a xbox 360 game it only uses port 3074. traffic management?

We're not around on a weekend.
We try and reply bas quickly as possible - we're only human.
I very much doubt that Traffic Management is causing the problem if this is all you're using your connection for. If you wanted to purchase a Netgear router, we'd be more than happy to help you set it up.
Have you forwarded the relevant ports for the hosting? I've hosted various games on the TG582n without any problems.

chris so do you have netgear routers in stock or just the tg582n? im having problems hosting games.when im host and because of my speed i will get host alot.players complain of latency problems and rubber banding or sponging.i have tried everything.must be this router m8

We don't have any Netgear routers, we used to, but any more.
Have you forwarded port 3074?

do i use wireless? no because wireless on the router you supply is pants.have you enabled the firewall?blocking people from connecting to me is not going to help is it.firewall is off.have you port forward port 3074?i have open nat so port 3074 is in use.if it wasnt you would have moderate nat type.whats the next question?is the openreach modem power light on...not happpy with support

I'm trying to help you.
If you're not happy with the router that we have supplied you with, you do have the option to buy your own.
Removing your Firewall isn't necessarily the answer to be honest, I was querying it, just to see if you've tried opening the required port on your Firewall instead.
I'll let other members of the Community provide further advice.

just a update,installed gargoyle firmware on a cheap tp link wr740n v4 router.no more latency problems,

gargoyle firmware as a few bugs so back to square one
