O I thought I post this link to Zandronum
It a doom port for playing doom online I been playing this for a while not good fun, you just need the Doom wads
you can get it cheap of amazon I suguest you get the collectors edition as it has Doom 1,2 and final doom
I seen somewere that they may also come with DOOM 3 BFG edition.

OpenArena is a free FPS game with free content built of the Quake 3 engine if you played Quake 3 you also enjoy this
I been playing this game for a while now has all the modes of quake 3 but my favorite mode is InstaGib

Freedoom
This is a free and opensource WAD file that runs with out doom wads so you get a full game to play of cuase you need a doom port and your ready to play

Tried digital paintball. Looks promising, but you need two right hands and one left hand to play. Pity, was looking forward to playing it.
Those of you who play WoW, there is a private server, totally free, that has up to burning crusade content.  This means the game is the old school, vanilla, and much harder than the current MoP.  Much more fun. https://www.emeralddream.com/

If we are talking free FPS its got to be Planetside 2.
Think Battlefield 3 only with 6000 player across huge maps.

Is a total conversion for DOOM 2, well it now infact a standred game works without the doom wad,
I only played a bit of this game so far, though it looks good if you like old style games like me anyway give it a try nothing to lose.

Hi me again with a new game I found.
Macenstein 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Encounters
on Saturday was looking for mods for Wolfenstein 3D and came across a total conversion well infant it a full game, that feels just like the original Wolf3D with new sounds and graphics so if you liked the old Wolfenstein3D then you like this only 18MB and uses the SDL port so it work on your Windows systems just fine.
