Deus Ex Human Revolution

I don't know how they do it but http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/deus-ex-human-revolution have it on sale at £21.59 - way less than Steam
Of course the next thing is whether my rig will even run it properly or whether I should upgrade my CPU or graphics card - certainly not both
System is CPU E6750 GPU 8800GT

Re: Deus Ex Human Revolution

The only PC which is as old as me is this

and it won't even run Elite
Just to add - I don't buy computers I build my own and with my current rig the best upgrade short of changing the motherboard and memory is a top of the range Intel Core 2 quad (about £250) and a flaming expensive Nvidia graphics card (SLI won't work as the motherboard doesn't support 2 PCIE x16 cards)
More realistically I can move it up to the next level for about £220 but I am not sure it is worth it with a 1680 x 1050 monitor - will wait and see how it runs

Re: Deus Ex Human Revolution

@Oldjim,
I'm currently running an E8500 (well, the Xeon equivalent, not sure what the model number is but essentially it's exactly the same chip) with an nvidia GTX 460 and it plays everything I've got at 1680x1050 (I do have an 8800GTX in there doing physX but as you have an 8800GT you could do exactly the same with that). Quick check on ebay shows E8500's going for around £80 on buy it now and you could pick up a 460 for around £120? You only really need a better card than that if you're using more than one monitor at 1080p+ resolutions.
I'm not planning to upgrade until there's something this rig can't play, suspect I've got at least another year in it before it's time to change socket (fingers crossed).

Re: Deus Ex Human Revolution

Interesting - it seems to run OK on the default settings which are a lot higher than the minimum and the picture detail is quite good
The mouse control is however rotten although having separate vertical and horizontal sensitivity is a big advantage.

Re: Deus Ex Human Revolution

Logitech MX518 Laser Mouse but it isn't the mouse per se it is the rotten implementation - at least it is better than the beta version where the X and Y weren't separate

Re: Deus Ex Human Revolution

the mx 518 is a good mouse Jim old lad , ive had a few  Wink
but with  the CM storm you can have seperate speeds for the X & Y axis in the mouse settings as opposed to the game,s and 4  DPI settings on the mouse buttons  Smiley

Installed last night.  Looks and plays great.  Runs fine on my rig.  Q6600, 2GB DDR2, 8800 GTS 512MB on medium settings.

Re: Deus Ex Human Revolution

I had this bad boy pre-ordered since January, and thankfully I recently upgraded my rig (although mostly to run Crysis 2 using DX11).
My current rig is now:
- Intel i5 25000K running @ 4.4GHz
- 8Gb of Corsair DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHz
- 1Gb Gigabyte GTX460 GFX card
- ASUS P8P67 Motherboard
I've also got a Roccat Kone gaming mouse, and if I can justify the £70, a Roccat Isku keyboard when it gets released in a weeks time.
DXHR runs fine on top settings (as you can imagine). Then again, the graphics aren't particularly heavy anyway, probably due to the fact that it was developed for consoles as well.

Just finished struggling through saving Malik on hardest setting pacifist - the explosion from disabling the robot kept killing people.
Now to hope I haven't killed anyone by accident and I will get the pacifist achievement at the end. It's a pity there isn't a flag up saying pacifist failed
