for belkin routers disable ip flood protection under firewall.if that dont work switch to ur plusnet router and type them commands.

Thanks for the replies - finally managed to sort it by doing the following two steps
1) Added DNS Server as 8.8.8.8 in the PS4's Internet Configuration (had previously been using the router's IP Address)
2) Opened up an additional port I found listed on page 1 of this thread which I'd previously not opened.
Been rock solid since Friday night now
