another question....
my home build is a couple of years old now, so for those that have played BF3 how do these specs add up, just to note, playing BF2 and BFBC2 with this setup, I still played with all settings on low and no AA or AF. I don't care if the game looks shit, as long as I kill people.
Q9450 @ 2.66 Mhz clocked to 3.4, HD 4870 512, 4 gig dominator DDR2.

I QUOTE
"Here's to hoping the launch of Battlefield 3 goes smoother than its predecessor. It would be a shame for such an amazing interactive entertainment experience to be marred by technical issues. In the long run, though, it won't matter, because once players step out of that troop carrier and see the sun shining in their eyes like never before -- once they see the light -- they'll understand what a special game Battlefield 3 is."

The problem is that the videos I saw on youtube with the 4870, they all seemed to be 1 meg cards and mine is only 512, so if it doesn't run it very well then I am going for this card.
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-266-AS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1341
The last card I had before this was a nvidia gainward 7800 GS AGP, the one before that was an ati iceq 9800 pro I think, so I figure it is time to give nvidia a go again. It was a toss up between the 560 ti and the 6870, the 6870 seem to do better at higher resolutions and higher AA and AF, but seeing as I game at 1680 x 1050 (monitors native res), then I wont beneffit from playing at a higher res, and I don't really have AA and AF on when playing on line, so fingers crossed my 4870 will cut it and save me 150 - 200 quid.
