hey man if u get it working tell me how!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

its really annoyin, i bought xbox live about 3 days ago and over those three days i've been wondering y my dad isnt gettin this set up. we looked at the connection and it just dosent work, so then my dad took the connection booklet to his work to see if any of the computer specialists could do anything they said they would try, but! there is a very high chance of that i would have to buy a router (shown in the xbox live booklet) which would cost ONLY AROUND £100!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! F9 please say there's another soloution!!!!!!!             Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

Has anyone Got XBOX live with Force9 ADSL??

My husband was an xbox live beta tester, so we connected the xbox via my pc, a long cable (USB I think?) and a '5-Port Ethernet Fast Switch' box. We had problems when he played moto gp, although it looked fine to us, other people complained that the bike was jumping around on track. When he tried to play Wolfenstein, he was only able to join a few games, as the connection wasn't up to it. We are now looking at either buying a router, approx £50-£70, or possibly upgrading to the adsl 20:1 ration connection, rather than the 50:1. Does anybody have any comments that would help our decision?

TIA, Caroline

Luck!

There are 3 ways this works

1) direct connnection, if you have a dsl 'modem' with an ethernet port on it you just plug the xbox straight into it (this is what 'figures' had, but had a switch to let other computers use the connection at the same time, and it was a cat5 cable, not USB. This only works because the 'modem' had a built in router)

2) with a router, essentially the same idea as above where the 'modem' and router are different pieces of hardware.

3) ICS: Xbox live works with Internet Connection Sharing which windows XP, 2000 and Me have (maybe 98 Se as well not sure)

basicly you need to have a network card in your pc, you plug a crossover network cable into your pc and the other end into the xbox, on the pc enable ICS on the force9 connection and if you have luck that should be it, but in reality you might need to fiddle with some settings.

Anyway, good luck and see you on live
