EA have just released a new one called "F1 1999-2003" I think and you can pick a year and all the old tracks, teams and drivers come in just like they used to be. It plays a little better too than F1 2002. I think it has been reviewed on pc.ign.com

the default PC game, F1 Challenge 99-02, includes the 1999-2002 seasons but the modders have already made a 2003 season and have also created updated tracks :-). Some groups are in the process of making older seasons and some are working on new car types - GT, for example, with appropriate physics and season tracks. Here is a link to a sim-racing community that has lots more info.

F1 Games

I am thinking of buying this games almost purely to play online (I get bored playing against the PC - plus I rarely seem to finish a race!).

I have ADSL so what are anyones experiences of F1 1999-2002 online play?

Hi sadlerwells,

F1C for the PC isn't as great online as some of the other online racing games but, IMO, it's the best F1 game and one of the best racing game - car physics wise. There are a few leagues using F1C, successfully, with a dozen or so drivers in each heat. I've even been able to host a 4 driver race with my 56k connection but that is stretching things.

A good place to start is http://www.f1rst2.com/ choose the leagues tab and dowload the f1rst2 client - It's a chat and game hosting program. There is usually around 100+ drivers there and some are very helpful. Also, in the near future, F1RST will be setting up an online league for F1C. At the moment they have a test league using the mini addon for f12002 or F1C...I'm not to sure which.

enjoy

PS: There is even a league, http://www.formula-simracing.org, where the teams have to pay to race and are sponsored by well know companies. Some of the top drivers even get paid to race/play Smiley
