Battlefield 2 Graphics Card?????

How many people have asked this one then?

My system spec is:-

Athlon 3200XP 1106mhz
1gb ram
Fx5200 256mb graphics card

BF2 runs but on lowest settings. Thinking of getting a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 XT 256MB AGP8X.

Can anyone advise if this would improve my performance.

Thanks very much

I had a 9600xt coupled with a p4 2.4 and it would run bf2 at 1280 * 1024 with low to medium settings. I found that perfectly playable in all honesty.

Now running a x1900xt and everythings on full and I still suck Wink

What FSB are you running? Because you should be seeing around 2200MHz or 2.2GHz

I have an ATI Radeon X800 256mb which is now over 2 years old, and runs BF2 on max settings perfectly, what I would suggest is what I did, stick another gb ram in, stopped any jerkiness on the max settings

@ robynfali

Do you not think the fact his cpu is running at half the speed it should be would be more than likely causing the crud game play?
See my post above.

Hey Rob.

No need for an apology m8! :?

I think I should have ended my previous post with this smiley---> Tongue

It would have conveyed my intention in that post a little better! Smiley

BTW your suggestion is good, as it never hurts to "up" up the system RAM.

*EDIT
I wonder if the OP is still chugging along.

I've got a Athlon 3000+ and a Saphire 9800XT 256MB and it runs BF2 fine on medium/high settings. I play mostly single player so I keep the settings a bit lower to compensate for the AI processing, online you could probably max it out.

Have you got AMD ' cool & quiet ' enabled as it gives low readings at idle speed .

I've jut upgraded to a 7900GT & have a Gigabyte 6800GT AGP for sale, fitted with arctic silent cooler £90 inc.
plays BF2 with most things on high except dynamic lights on medium

Hehe my AGP 6800GT (XFX) runs BF2 with everything high, AA the lot. No it isnt overclocked. I've always gone for XFX as experience has shown me that they just roxor.

Each to their own mind but they are good cards Tongue

For AGP you want at least an Radeon X800 or Nvidia 6800. There are newer cards out now on AGP that are even more powerful. A 9600 is about half the speed of a 9800 which is also too slow to play at higher resolutions and details levels.

Hope that helps.
