Wi-Fi Adapter for desktop Computer

Can anyone tell me what USB Wi-fi adapter is compatible with the Hub 2 Router as I've been told they need to match up for the best results. Since switching to Full Fibre I've been getting vastly reduced and variable speeds from my PCI card. Anything from 750kbs to 100mbs!

Sounds a bit strange , what make/model is the PCI card ?

and what router were you using before ?

Re: Wi-Fi Adapter for desktop Computer

You omit to mention the specification of the PCI Wi-Fi card,
kind of makes it impossible to suggest a superior product.

Variations from 750kbs to 100mbs don't come across a Wi-Fi issue,
they suggest the stats are from a wide range of tests or applications,
again we do not have any info on this.

I'd start with a look in the network info of your PC
and find out what rate the PCI card is connecting to the Plusnet Router.

Various speed tests are available, we use : https://interprefy.speedtestcustom.com/

Re: Wi-Fi Adapter for desktop Computer

I doubt anything special is needed to operate with the Hub 2.

I use a TP-Link Archer T3U, AC1300 Mini Wireless MU-MIMO USB Adaptor (may even be a semi obsolete model by now). Works perfectly OK with the Hub 2 Wi-Fi set to 5GHz Wi-Fi only. It's in same room as  the PC and connects at various speeds between 500 - 800 Mbps. I am currently on 150Mbps FF.

Re: Wi-Fi Adapter for desktop Computer

Don't know I fitted it years ago but it was fine with the Hub 1 I've had for years with Plusnet. Its only happened since I changed to Full Fibre. I've put my laptop next to my desktop and I'm getting 100mps. Don't understand it

What speed Full Fibre have you got ?

The Hub 1 will work fine with Full fibre, athough it will limit the upstream bandwidth to 30Mb

Its possible that your PCI card is connecting to the 2.4ghz network and there is interference from other networks, whereas the laptop is connected to the 5ghz band.
