Re: Why have my speeds dropped???

Interesting post.
I've just had an electrical engineer at my place testing the fusebox so I've turned off my openreach modem for the first time since I've been on  80/20.
I didn't notice anything was slower but ran a speedtest anyway to confirm everything was back to normal and speedtest.net and speedtester.bt.com both showing 37-38 down and 15-16 up.
Previously was getting 70-72 down and about the same up (15-16)  since going on the trial a couple of month back.
A wider issue or something triggered by restarting the openreach modem?

Re: Why have my speeds dropped???

Looking around the 80/20 trial forum I see that there are a whole lot of people suffering the same problem. maybe Plusnet can let us know whats happening

Re: Why have my speeds dropped???

Think I have found the cause of the problem. Profile has been change to 40Mbps. I'm sure this should be 20 Mbps to be on the trial.
Anyone at PN reading this would you please change my profile back again.
Seems lots of people are suffering the same problem

Re: Why have my speeds dropped???

My speed has also dropped from 67MBit to 37MBit..... Has the trial just ended? I was under the impression we'd have the option of carrying on at the higher speed profile?
Could somoene please look into it?
Thanks! Smiley

Re: Why have my speeds dropped???

No, the trial has not ended! You are almost certainly suffering from the "40Mb line speed" problem documented here and hopefully yours will be fixed soon.

Re: Why have my speeds dropped???

Looks like I have been affected by the line reset. I have been getting 72000kps but now it is back down to 37600kbs.
Looking at my speed rating it says
Current line speed:
40 Mb

Do I have to raise a ticket? or report through this forum?

Re: Why have my speeds dropped???

Ah this sounds like the issue I was suffering from last night - been skulking around here looking for more info. Saw my line profile set to 40Mb and after a quick (late night) call to PlusNet it's all sorted now. Was a bit curious as to why the numbers changed from 40Mb to 20Mb? Or is this just a simplified way to class the FTTC 80/20 trial users?

Re: Why have my speeds dropped???

I appear to have the same problem but never reach a speed higher than 38mbps whether on 40/2 pr trial 80/20.
I am told I can't raise a fault if speed is over 12 mbps!
If that is the case -what is the point of having fibre?
So -I will raise a tcket and see what happens!
By the way I am about 700 metres from the fibre cabinet- so that is possibly slowing me down a bit- but BT engineer, when he fitted it, about a month ago, said on normal rate ( up to 40mbps) - I should get about 37mbps- so nothing improved when I went on trial 80/20 other than upload speed - now 6mbps! should my profile be reduced to 20 ( now states 40)?

Yes, it should be set at 20.
