Waiting for BT today

It is nearly 11:30 and BT are supposed to come and install FTTC here today between 8am and 1pm. Getting a bit concerned that they have not arrived or phoned yet.

Re: Waiting for BT today

Hopefully they will arrive for you sooner rather than later and the installation will go well. The waiting for FTTC is unbearable and on the day it must be even worse!
What speed do you get at the moment and what speed are you estimated to get (according to the BT checker?)
Dave has managed to get me an install for Friday 1st between 8am and 1pm. I hope BT are a bit more prompt as I was hoping to get back to the office for the afternoon.
It would be interesting to know your speeds and how you find the install goes if you don't mind feeding back.

Re: Waiting for BT today

I currently get 3Mb/s down on ADSL. Should get 15 down and 6.6 up according to BT checker.
Just a little worried that BT are not going to arrive now. But just my pessimistic nature. Undecided

PN - can you confirm that BT have my telephone contact details please?
ALSO - I accidentally CLOSED the question  today and cannot get it back (not showing in closed questions). #35288688

Re: Waiting for BT today

My install was for the afternoon, I eventually got a call, as they were busy due to the weather etc and could they come the following day, I was not available so they made an effort to get to me, they should turn up, you still have an hr.

Re: Waiting for BT today

Yes, could still arrive - I am available all day, but did have plans for this afternoon.
Weather is raining hard today, so perhaps they are bailing out the ducts.

Re: Waiting for BT today

Hahaha, I can actually feel your sense of relief!
Fingers crossed it is a smooth install.
I currently get 2Mb on ADSL 2+, and BT estimate FTTC as 18.9 down and 8.3 up! Roll on Friday.
I’ve got everything BT need (power, access to the master, plenty of tea and biscuits etc) all ready, but if you think there is something else useful you could pass on then it would be appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Waiting for BT today

All installed. BT test was about 26Mb/s down and 10 up!
However speed test looks very slow just now. Has PN got the wrong profile?

Re: Waiting for BT today

Getting better download now - swopped from 5GHz N to 2.4GHz N on the Airport Extreme.
More test results soon.
Can now watch BBC HD on iPlayer. Smiley

That's more like it! - It does vary quite a bit on the download side.
Tried into ethernet getting slightly better than that on an old G3 PowerBook..
May run Ethernet up to the main iMac.

It took no more than 30 minutes incl coffee break.
Had a long chat with engineer, I am the 2nd user on my cabinet.  He had done a few PlusNet trial customers before.
Waited until I got my router connected and working.
Nice fellow, and I have his mobile number just in case.
Good luck with your install, I am very pleased so far and I'm sure you will be too.
Now to put all the brooms, ironing board etc back in the "comms" cupboard. Grin
