Reset router

Hi I'm having to turn my router on and off at least twice a day as my speeds keep dropping from 480 down to 40 everyday. Any suggestions to stop this . Thanks

Re: Reset router

@masterraj

from 480 down to 40

I'm assuming from the 480 , that you have a Full Fibre 500 connection , is that correct ?

I'm guessing that you're using wireless connections ?

One explanation would be that devices are initially connecting to the 5ghz band, which will support around 400-500Mb, but then at some point losing connection and reverting to the 2.4ghz band which will only give around 50Mb. The powering off & on of the router will cause the devices to reconnect. You should be able to get the same effect by disabling & reenabling wifi on the device itself.

Make sure that your devices are set to 'prefer 5ghz' if possible.

@masterraj Thank you for taking the time to contact us on our Community Forum, I hope you are well.

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you are experiencing with the service. Having reviewed all the information I can confirm that the issue is related to incorrect provisioning of the line and for this I have placed a stabilisation order, you can find more information on a question I opened on your account, please follow this link at your earliest convenience: https://www.plus.net/wizard/?p=view_question&id=247806438 Please do allow up to 5 working days for the stabilisation order to complete.

Please let me know if there's anything else we may look into for you 😊

Re: Reset router

@Tina11192 was the 480 a typo then and its not Full Fibre 500 ?

Re: Reset router

Hi @MisterW yes you were right with your guess and the provisioning of speeds was incorrect, I use stabilisation order as a term for these tasks but they are not necessarily related to stability, like in this case.
