Hi, My brother is looking to get another ISP for FTTP and i was wondering if this was even possible as i currently have BT Full fibre service at the same address?
He would like an additional line installed instead of taking over my existing fibre line, BT have explained that this is impossible(i think it's because we're already with BT) but i told him about plusnet and i thought i would check on here if anyone knows possibly an employee or customer who has experienced this theirselfs.
Thanks.

Also have been reading about an option to upgrade the single ONT to a Multi Port ONT and have two providers running from one fibre line.

@DanChief114 It is possible to have more than one FTTP service, using a 4 port ONT but I fear you may struggle to get any of the main stream providers to offer it or even understand how it can be done. The fact that BT said it's impossible is the typical response from some person who doesn't have a clue. The original 4 port ONT's were discontinued by Openreach some time ago but I believe they have a new version now but not a lot of them about.
If you can't get any response from Plusnet who I would not expect to be able to offer this, they appear to have trouble with their ordering systems particularly if there is an existing ONT at the premises so it might be worth trying some of the more specialist providers such as some of these which may well be more expensive than the usual suspects.

I have an old style 4 port ONT fitted and there was certainly talk at the time of having more than one provider using it if so desired. I doubt many people have ever done so - a few businesses perhaps.
You'll need to talk to any possible ISP as it almost certainly won't be available on-line. Zen Internet might be worth a punt.

Hi @DanChief114
Thanks for reaching out over the Forums!
I can only really speak on behalf of Plusnet but currently multiple Fibre lines is something that's not being implemented. This probably won't be forever and might be opened up in the future, as you've mentioned there is Multi Port ONT so some providers will be doing this, I'm just not entirely sure who is.

Not only is it possible to have two FTTP connections, some people have got three, although apparently the third connection in the case linked below required an additional ONT to be installed for reasons best known to BT/OR. It isn't clear to me whether that means two ONTs are now in use, or whether the new ONT was able to have three ports activated.
Adding an FTTP Connection (Currently have 2 on our ONT)

I suppose the key question is what the objective of having a second FTTP line is.
If it is to keep all traffic seperate, some sort of tunnel to an ISP might do the job (perhaps with an upgrade to the first circuit speed).
If it is for resiliance or to get a second location in the building served, then a second physical line is an obvious reason.
Simplest would be if a different physical network (Virgin perhaps) is available.

Thanks everyone for the answers/responses!
BT confirmed with me that it is impossible to have another FTTP line run to the same address & not able to order a multi port ONT, He called talk talk who where adamant that it was possible for them to order an additional line to the property even though i had them make sure it's an additional line and not a take over. I would prefer he signs with plusnet as i've heard only bad things about them. The order is still apparently "pending", even though i think the order will fail..
I've seen reports of people ordering an additional line without issue, But BT where adamant that a second cannot be added unless it's a business line.
Is it worth me phoning Plusnet or not? Thanks for the responses

Have you looked at what the BTW DSL checker says, guess you won't have your phone number so will need your access line ID for an accurate answer.

@Mustrum Hi, I have checked this before trying to even place an order and was more confused lol
Wholesale checker states; "ONT exists with active service. No spare ports are available. A new ONT may be ordered."

@Mustrum @DanChief114 Yes the checker details could be useful, if you don't have the line ID the address checker version should work.
Edit: You've already tried this, the message is confusing, does no ports available refer to the CBT connectors or the ports on the ONT which is usually just one?

@RealAleMadrid Hi, I made sure to check the wholesale checker before even considering ordering an additional line or even upgrading the single port ONT to an Multi port ONT, It shows "ONT exists with active service. No spare ports are available. A new ONT may be ordered."

@RealAleMadrid No, the no ports available refers to the ONT. It see's the ONT is a single port and not a multiport, If the ONT had multiple ports it would show that it has spare ports.

Don't see any point in phoning PN. Try two or three other ISP's and see what their response is.

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions, He just got off the phone with TalkTalk and after accepting his order and him wondering why he hasn't received any confirmation or any account info they finally got someone with knowledge to speak on the phone and he said that the reason why the order was stuck in processing is because OpenReach do not allow two fibre lines to one address(even if you're willing to pay),
No clue about a Multi port ONT and how to even order one, kind of crazy how BTWholesale checker even states a new ONT/Service can be ordered
