Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

Hi

I know this has been asked before, but after waiting a couple of weeks from getting the Openreach email saying i had FTTP and seeing Openreach contractors in my street putting in Fibre to two of my neighbours i looked to upgrade with Plusnet, but no offers are showing for FTTP.

I rang the Plusnet support line and they checked and said i needed to wait until the end of the month as maybe the system will update then.  EE, BT and Plusnet are not showing FTTP for my property, but my two neighbours are both with BT and i checked with the contractors when they where in the road this week putting in the Fibre that that is what they were doing!

Both the address and DN checker on here https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/ are showing i have SOCEA, see screenshot, so i don't know why Plusnet can't offer me full fibre.

Any ideas on how i get this resovled?

@trippy What does the text under that say? Is your address  a 'straight' one - '23 Any Street, Any Estate, Anytown, AA1 1AA''?

@trippy SOGEA is FTTC not FTTP so that's what's currently available to you at present.

@HPsauce That SOGEA comment is true, but if @trippy 's neighbours can get FTTP, why can't he/she? - doesn't make sense.

Re: Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

@jab1 This is the text under the broadband checker and my address is a ‘straight’ one.

@HPsauce I misunderstood  what SOGEA means, thanks for the clarification.

It is odd as i have an email from Openreach saying I have Fill fibre and the engineers were in the road two days this week pulling fibre in to two houses.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme

As a WLR withdrawal exchange, product restrictions apply

SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange

For all ADSL and WBC Fibre to the Cabinet (VDSL or G.fast) services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

For all SOADSL services, the stable line rate will be determined during the first 10 days of service usage.

Actual speeds experienced by end users and quoted by CPs will be lower due to a number of factors within and external to BT's network, Communication Providers' networks and within customer premises.

In order to be eligible for handback, downstream speed should be less than Downstream Handback Threshold values.

If you decide to place an order for a WBC fibre product, an appointment may be required for an engineer to visit the end user's premises to supply the service

ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL availability: If shown at FTTP or SOGEA premises,ADSL, ADSL2+ and SOADSL are not available to order due to WLR Withdrawal stop sell rules. CPs should order FTTP or SOGEA. Copper products are only available by exception.

Thank you for your interest

Re: Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

@trippy If they have installed Full Fibre in your area, keep checking the BT site - until Openreach update that, no OR supplied ISP will be able to offer FTTP. It might be there, but until that site says it is available, so far as anyone else is concerned, it isn't.

It’s annoying that it doesn’t filter through quicker. Openreach are saying it’s there on their websiteIMG_0891.png

Openreach are notoriously lax at updating important data - you just have to be patient, unfortunately.

Re: Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

@trippy

Use the Address version of the Checker. Enter your post code only and select your property from the drop down list.

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL

Is your Address correct?

It could be an OR Database error or, as stated, it hasn't caught up yet.

Full Fibre is installed in "circuits" so it's possible where you saw installs taking place they are on a circuit which has been commissioned whereas you're on a circuit which either hasn't or was brought live at a later date.

Also check your next door neighours address. You never know.

@bmc Thanks have checked both my neighbours addresses that Openreach where installing to and neither are showing any different to mine. Will just have to wait or move to BT

Re: Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

If your neighbours are showing the same as you, then maybe these 'Openreach Contractors' were installing for Virgin/O2 or an altnet - they wouldn't be installing for a BT/Openreach reseller.

Re: Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

I had a similar problem. If I was logged in to my Plusnet account, FTTP wasn't available as an upgrade. If I logged out, it was available as a new customer.

Plusnet couldn't sort it so they cancelled my old account (no penalty) and created a new one for FTTP.

Re: Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

@trippy   it all is just part of the standard way the BT Group does their thing.

1. Openreach install the fibre in an area then despite having no direct sales route to the public drop leaflets to everyone they have just enabled and update their website.

2. BTw get involved and provide the connection from the new fibres to the rest of the world, and update the BTw checker - which all the ISP's using Openreach use as the tool to show what service types they can offer.

3. ISP's update or get new links into BTw and are then able to offer fibre services to the public.

It is often several weeks between point 1 and 3.

Just keep checking the BTw checker and get your orfer in when your address shows WBC FTTP is available. Look out for what it says on the right of the FTTP row and the text below after it says an ONT may be ordered.

Re: Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

@Stoker FTTP is not available to the OP on the BT/OR checker, so no ISP using the OR infrastructure will be offering it yet. I suspect that 'backbone' is installed, but not yet fully tested/commissioned.

Re: Openreach says i have FTTP but Plusnet says i don't

@trippy

As already stated, are you sure it's OpenReach doing the work and not one of the AltNets? You can check who may be available using the following.

https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/

You should not have to move to BT to get full fibre. Both PN and BT use the OpenReach network so if it's available to one it's available to both. You could however, try the checker on the BT Retail web site to see what it offers.
