Re: Openreach 3 month wait for installation

My install took 5 months in total from order in April to install in September at the property, mine was a partial in ground so digging was required,

I had delays due to a survey being required, ducting needing ordering as they ran out, the longest one was due to my local council permit not granting digging until two months later no reason, given Openreach had already been digging in my street laying ducting and cable at the time so why I got that delay I do not know, the last delay was due to someone within Openreach claiming more ducting was required even though my fibre cable to the property had been laid, but a few days later all of a sudden I got a txt from Openreach with a install date at the property and it was done.

I'm not saying this will all happen to your install but there are many reasons why delays happen, thankfully mine was an upgrade so I still had my FTTC connection.

Re: Openreach 3 month wait for installation

I am more surprised that the OP has got a 'confirmed date' at all, especially that far out.

I had a fairly early 'guess date' when ordering from PN, but no confirmed dates back and and endless loop of 'update next week' as various surveys, 'dig' works and a partial installation happened.

As noted above be aware of the " 'task complete' paperwork " stage.  I had the fibre at the door which OR denied existed for weeks.

PN are rather stuck in the middle passing on OR's lies, but do seem reluctant to argue with their BigBoss at OR.

Exactly the reason I'll be moving provider away from the Openreach network once my Plusnet contract finishes in a few months.

I attempted to upgrade to FTTP earlier this year & Openreach repeatedly let the side down over several months & gave Plusnet false information leading to me getting annoyed & cancelling the upgrade.

I’ve just upgraded to FTTP, 2 weeks & 2 days from order to installation. Excellent service…..

That long!! Cheesy

One of my referrals ordered FTTP on Monday 10th November; it was all installed and working on Thursday 13th November early afternoon.  That was a new installation, not the switch on of an existing connection.

Re: Openreach 3 month wait for installation

From ordering 6 Feb to 27 March going through surveys and digging (with no confirmed installation date), then 27 March to 17 April with OR stuck in their own backsides (fibre end at door, OR denying it was), I was technically installed at 19 *hours* notice.

1600 Thursday rocket from above* arrived with local OR bod

1630 OR bod phones me direct "Please can we come tomorrow ?"

1130 On GOOD FRIDAY installed

Fortunately I had got the Hub2 sent in advance, PN never got a notice of confirmed installation date, just that it was done.

The long version......

*Never found out which rocket, suspect it was the one via SG R100 rather than via PN.
