No speed increase with upgrade.

I have upgraded from the 150 to 300 fttp package (for a reduction in cost).

My upload speed has risen from 25 to 50 mbs but I have had no increase in download speed (still 150 mbs).

Reading these forums I see it can sometimes help by switching the router off for half an hour.

I have done this but still no joy.

Any ideas?

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

Is that a wired speed test ?

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

Log into your Plusnet account and go to the 'Broadband' tab in the dashboard.

See whether the profile been updated to 300mbps?

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

What router are you using ?

Do you have any powerline adapters in the system ?

What system are you using to do the speedtest ?

Have you tried the ookla test ? ( speedtest.net )

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

I presume speed test using PC was over ethernet and you haven't enabled bandwidth control on the TPlink router running stock firmware?   Speed tests over wifi will max out around 150 mbps.

Can you install a Plusnet hub 2 and perform a speed test?

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

Yes. Connection via ethernet.

I don't have another router.

Do you suspect it could be the router then? It does claim to support a 1 gigabit connection.

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

Is Hardware NAT enabled on the TL-WDR3600 ?  Apparently it is a setting.

You could try connecting PC to ONT and configure it for PPPoE, to run a speed test?

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

Yes I could. I would prefer not to though. It sounds like a right pain.

Just checked NAT. It is enabled.

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

It does claim to support a 1 gigabit connection

having a gigabit port and being able to support that as wan to lan throughput are completely different!

Having said that the 3600 does claim to be capable of 800Mb throughput providing hardware nat is enabled and no QoS is used.

I'd suggest trying the direct pppoe test to eliminate the router as a possible problem

Re: No speed increase with upgrade.

Might be worth trying the cli version of the speedtest https://www.speedtest.net/apps/cli

I've seen strange results from browser based tests at higher speeds
