Re: MTU Setting

You would think now that I'm set at 1492 I should set my PS3 also to 1492 instead of automatic to be in sync yeah ?
Nope, same message.

At least I can keep it at this setting now and it works....or should I try it at 1500, can I get these baby mice jumbo frame things ? Crazy3

Re: MTU Setting

Glad the new router has fixed you problem. Thumbs_Up
If problem was the HH5A, I'm surprised more people aren't complaining.

Re: MTU Setting

Cheers Smiley

There's a few posts floating around about the issue but certainly not widespread, I guess there's too many variables, it's possibly just on a fibre connection using these hubs and some will still be using older hardware, a separate modem/router, most seem to keep their existing set up or buy new in favour of the ISP provided hardware I guess as you see a lot of BT, Sky, Talk Talk etc routers on ebay.

It's a strange one for sure, just glad it's sorted.

Re: MTU Setting

Just seen this in the BT forum:

https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity-Speed-Connection/IP-fragmentation-issue-PS4/td-p/1584689/pag...

The evidence is growing against the HH5A. Wink

Re: MTU Setting

I'm afraid I'm not totally convinced. I'm sure I read something similar back last year not involving HH's and it was something Sony had been doing.

Have a read of this article, even try talking to Sony on their chat. This BT forum thread suggest that the Hub had a firmware update that should have resolved one issue.

I've not read any of that lot in detail, so I can't comment whether it's all correct & fixed or what.

Re: MTU Setting

Read lots and lots of posts on the issue in the last few weeks but I somehow missed that one on the BT forums, it's quite recent too.

All I can say is that since not using the Home Hub 5a or the Plusnet Hub One (which is also a HH5a, from what I've read)
I no longer have the error message or any of the problems that go along with it.

Edit: Poor guy seems to be banging his on a brick wall over there, will register and say what worked for me at least.

Yes I noticed that - I thought that the "Distinguished Sage" was rather offish with him as well. I've noticed similar in some of this sage's other posts too Shocked

"Offish" is rather polite to say the least Shocked

The guy said quite early on he wasn't very techy (same here) I'm just glad that over here you guys offered assistance instead of what seems to be put down after put down, not very helpful at all in some honesty.

Re: MTU Setting

I don't know what the etiquette is with this kind of bumping, but I have this problem too.  I actually solved it by setting the MTU on my ps4 to 1448 but that only worked for a day for some reason.  I'm on fibre with the plusnet hub one.

I'm guessing a new router is still the only solution for this then?  I can't seem to find anyone else that's found another way.

I think that maybe this has gone a little under the radar because it doesn't seem to really affect things too much.  I just get the packet fragmentation error, but I can still sign into psn and games work.  Theres just slight lag, and remote play is not as good as it was.  So it maybe that many people have this issue but just don't notice it.

Re: MTU Setting

@reegeee - I would be inclined to agree with you regarding the router I use a DrayTek 2925 with dual Fibre connections and we have never experienced an issue like this considering we have 3 PS4s and 2 XBox Ones in the house, once configured they simply work with no issues at all.

Re: MTU Setting

Thanks for the response, that is one fancy router!  I don't really want to spend quite that much but thanks for the advice all the same.

It's slightly annoying because I don't really blame the hub one for this so much, it seems more an issue with Sony's network not wanting to work with certain devices.  Googling the issue I see people talking about this 2 or 3 years ago with different routers/ISPs.

Re: MTU Setting

I wasn't so much as suggesting you rushed out an bought the same unit, it was more of an agreement with your comment regarding a change of router to 'fix' your issue. There are plenty of alternatives on the market with many a thread on here offering suggestions as regards a replacement.
