Is this a normal FTTP installation? It doesn't look correct to me.

Hi.  I'm new to plusnet and this forum.

I've just had Full fibre installed and I'm a little concerned for 2 reasons :-

1)  The cable cover/trunking does not go all the way down to the ground, exposing both the new plusnet fibre cable and the old Virgin Media cable.  We have a big problem with squirrels in the area who happen to love chewing cables.  There is also an uncovered hole for mice to easily crawl through due to the lack of trunking.  (see pic 1)

2)  The FTTP fibre cable simply goes into the earth.  There doesn't seem to be any protection for the cable.  Should there not be some sort of vertical trunking/tube coming up to ground level?  (see pic 2)

Any help would be appreciated.

@sosweb

What is specifcally missing is the bottom part of the OR cable protection. It is sometimes known as an elephants foot. Normally this sits over the top of the incoming duct from the underground chamber.

An example is shown here

I shall complain to plusnet tomorrow.

Kind regards,

Mark.
