IP profile reset after fixing wiring fault?

Hello Plusnet Team,

Today I had resolved an ongoing internal wiring issue in my house which had effected my broadband speed in the past year or so.  As you can see the maximum rate is now 24685 / 62158 (it was previously 22966 / 57175 prior to fixing my wiring issue).

The issue I have now is my data throughput test shown below is still hovering around DL 43mbs \ UL 14mbs, I was achieving a lot higher than this when I first signed up, would it be possible to carry out an IP Profile reset on my line to potential resolve this issue?

6. Data rate: 14339 / 46901
7. Maximum data rate: 24685 / 62158
8. Noise margin: 10.9 / 9.3
9. Line attenuation: 16.8 / 13.3
10. Signal attenuation: 16.3 / 13.3

Re: IP profile reset after fixing wiring fault?

Fix

Thanks for your post @leew88 and welcome to our Community Forums.

I'm sorry to see you're having speed issues after a wiring issue you've had.

Based on what you've said, I've arranged for your line to be reset as I can see your sync speed is banded at 49mbps "Downstream: 0.128M-49M with Retransmission (High). Upstream: 0.128M-15M with Retransmission (High)" though that data we've got is from yesterday and looking at your sync speed you've posted today, it doesn't appear to be hitting the banding. Our tests are also showing a bridge tap which is a wiring issue so I think there may still be a problem.

In any case though, your line should hopefully be reset within 3 working days but I can't guarantee it'll work or your speed may not drop back down by itself if there's still a problem somewhere. If you don't see an improvement or you have further issues next week, let us know and we'll be happy to arrange an engineer visit to investigate further.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: IP profile reset after fixing wiring fault?

Thanks for your prompt response, I'll give it a week after the DLM reset to see if any sustained improvements.

Within the user's premises?

Would STAR internal wiring report as a "bridge tap" problem?

Re: IP profile reset after fixing wiring fault?

Just a quick update since my DLM reset post internal wiring fix, my speed has slowly risen over the past 3 days, not sure whether it will increase further beyond DL 52512 taken into consideration my current sync speed \ SNRM.

Just for your information my initial internal wiring issue was improved by disconnecting 2 out of 4 unused extension sockets within the daisy-chain wired from my master socket (router is connected to master).

My next plan is to install a "filtered faceplate" onto my NTE5 master to further improve the situation, I'll give some more time for the DLM to stabilise before moving onto this next step.

6. Data rate: 19139 / 52512
7. Maximum data rate: 24716 / 61814
8. Noise margin: 8.5 / 7.8
9. Line attenuation: 16.6 / 13.3
10. Signal attenuation: 16.3 / 13.4

Re: IP profile reset after fixing wiring fault?

So it's been around 1 week now since my DLM profile had been resetted, I'm please to say that my sync speed \ line rate is back to where it should be and most importantly my line is stable.  I've also fitted a "filtered faceplate" onto my master socket which effectively isolates the VDSL signal from all of my extension wiring, this has also improved my sync rate by a further 1mb and gets rid of the ugly external VSDL pluggable filters.

Thanks to Plusnet team for the great customer support!

6. Data rate: 19999 / 62645

10. Signal attenuation: 14.8 / 12.4
