I'm about to go

I asked to join the FTTP trial on 3/05/18, responded to the various agreements and have heard nothing since.

I'm getting fed up with being fobbed off, online agents saying they'd asked me to agree to stuff they'd never mentioned. having to wait for routers that were never sent, having to buy my own router and questions remaining unanswered.

I'm also fed up with 0.8 - 1.3mb d/loads and .3 - .7kb uploads.

I will be leaving you lot after many many years

Re: I'm about to go

@Sidthree

As it's a trial the FTTP service is not integrated with the PlusNet back office systems. Generally speaking phone and live chat support staff know little if anything about FTTP.

This forum (Fibre to the Premises) is the best place for support.

One thing to consider if you move is the price. PlusNet is by far the cheapest if you don't need your phone line. Even with a phone service I believe PlusNet is the cheapest (though I stand ready to be proved wrong).

Re: I'm about to go

Thank for that Brian, I get what you're saying about the phone and chat support bods, it's just the apparent inactivity around the whole business. Not to mention paying for the privilage of rarely reaching 1mbps d/load and a massive 12 - 50kbps u/load! Paying the same as someone with quadruple and more than that transfer rate.

I still have no idea of what, where, when, or indeed who, is happening right now!

Because I can't be a***d right now I'm giving it one more week, then that's it. I mean it this time, oh yes I do. No, no, nope, there'll be no turning back then. Oh no siree!

Re: I'm about to go

Oh, and that well known ISP John Lewis does a fibre with phone package cheaper.

Re: I'm about to go

Is FTTP available to you? I don't believe John Lewis offer it, they do offer FTTC.

Post the results of putting your phone number into the DSL Checker - the forum will be able to help give you more information.

Re: I'm about to go

Bear in mind PlusNet run John Lewis - so technically you'd be dealing with the same company.

Re: I'm about to go

What exactly have you ordered Sidthree?

FTTP or FTTC ...

As they are completely different things.

FTTC typically takes 7 to 14 days to install.

FTTP typically takes between a month to a year to install (depending on OR issues which are not PN related)

As far as i know John lewis does not support fttp.

@Sidthree

If you are talking about a FTTP installation then there are very few ISP's who offer a product. OpenReach list the following on their website.

Re: I'm about to go

Crumbs! So Plusnet own John Lewis and BT owns Plusnet. What a carve up!

Re: I'm about to go

I ordered FTTP. To do so I have had to buy the Fibre Unlimited package (FTTC); with my cabinet almost 2 miles away I am getting virtually the same transfer as before.

Re: I'm about to go

Not quite that bad.

PlusNet are under contract from John Lewis to run their service for them.
