Google Nest Set Up

First thing is it said to turn the modem to a bridge which I did. Although subsequently realised it says fibre won’t work that way. Once I had turned the modem to a bridge I kind of snookered myself as I don’t have a way to connect to the modem through Ethernet.
I had a go at connecting Google to the Ethernet over pppoE and it wouldn’t connect with the username and password. Something about Vlan etc. So I looked about for a way to connect the modem to Ethernet eventually did but couldn’t access the hub admin page a switch and my ps4. The username and password actually worked on this over pppoE so that is correct.
Thought I’d give Google nest WiFi router one last go. Connected straight up, set up the WiFi and 2 points fine.
Three questions I have that I can’t quite find answers to as of yet.
1. Will it have saved my WAN pppoE info from the failed attempt and that’s why it’s just gone through. Seems most likely explanation.
2. Can I turn the plusnet hub 2 off now? As it’s not really acting as a bridge as nothing is going through it signal wise.
3. Is there a way of checking to ensure the network is set up correctly? I’m getting really good speeds but it’d be interesting to know.
Apologies guys as for you tech guys these questions are probably really simplistic. I just find it confusing when it all works but I don’t know why and expecting it to go down for no reason at the worst moment.
Thank you in advance.

@derrenbroon77 Welcome to the Plusnet Community Fora.
It’s not clear how you have set this up.
If you are on a FTTC service, that is, broadband provided over the traditional copper telephone cable, then you need to use the Hub 2 in bridge mode. This needs to be connected to the Google kit using an Ethernet cable between any of the three Hub 2 LAN sockets and the Google input. You should not enter any VLAN data into the Google kit, leave it blank or if necessary 0. VLAN is managed by the Hub 2. Use PPPoE in the Google kit and just enter your username followed by @plusdsl.net and password into the Google nest. You can’t remove the Hub 2.
If you have a Full Fibre connection, you do not need the Hub 2. Just plug the Google kit straight into the Openreach ONT.. the Google kit settings are exactly the same as above, no VLAN setting should be entered.

I have full fibre and I’ve connected straight into the ont box.
I wasn’t sure if the hub2 was still doing something even though nothing is going through it.
I did set it up for pppoE but an error came up about VLan, which I hadn’t touched at all. On a second attempt to connect, everything worked which threw me. It must of saved the details even though there was an error. Then continued to set up.
It’s saying plusnet is my isp on speed check details so I’m a little more confident I can just turn the hub2 off now. As it isn’t doing anything and the int is using my pppoE details to register me on the network.
I appreciate your patience and input.

Sounds good.
Just disconnect the Hub 2, put it back in the box and keep it in a safe place. If you ever have a problem then substitute your Google master unit with the Hub 2 so that Plusnet can analyse the fault. If you use the Hub 2 you must plug the Ethernet cable from the ONT that is currently connected to the google master unit into the RED labelled socket labelled WAN. The DSL input is not used.
N.B. If you leave Plusnet and you don't return the Hub 2, you will be charged for it.
