What Full Fibre product/speed are you supposedly on, which router are you using, and did you get full speed when you initially transferred?
How are you testing the speed?

@oliveoyl983 Why would you think Plusnet are turning your speed down? That's not very sensible. More information is required, what speed full fibre service have you subscribed to and how are you testing the speed?

We are supposed to be on 500mbs, we've tried several speed testers including fast.com the recommended PlusNet one. After initial set up we reached 400mbs plus now we are lucky to reach 250mbs.

Thanks. Were these initial test carried out on a wired (Ethernet) connection, and are these current test carried over the same connection?

Sorry we don't have an ethernet and I'm not sure I know what you mean by the same connection 😬

@oliveoyl983 You mean you don't have a spare Ethernet cable? How was the machine you initially got 400Mb/s on connected?
When I say 'the same connection', I mean have you changed how your machine connects to the Hub. To be honest, and I meant to add this to a previous post, if you are just using Wi-Fi, you are unlikely to see much more than 250Mb/s due to the limitations of that technology.

Is your wireless device connecting via 2.4Ghz or 5GHz WiFi bands ? - You need to be on 5GHz when doing a speed test.
Have you checked whether your router's WiFi channels are different from the WiFi channels used by your neighbours ?

When attempting a speed test, which an ISP will accept, you need to be connected by Ethernet. Wireless is subject to too many variables.

Sorry no idea which channel, also how do I check what channel my neighbours are on? We tested the same way since we started testing and using unwired was reaching 400mbs.

Use a mobile app like WiFi Analyzer

How can you know that if you don't know what band your mobile device is connecting to ?
Your wireless device could easily have switched from 5GHz to 2.4GHz bands if the WiFi SSID is the same for both.

@oliveoyl983 I am amazed you got 400Mb/s on a wireless connection using the Hub2 - people on here with much more experience have pointed out that this is not really possible.
What computer/laptop are you using for testing?
Apologies - as I have never used a Plusnet Hub, I don't know if they display this information - I know my router does, but it is a higher spec piece of kit.
If you have a phone/tablet, there are Wi-Fi analysers available on the Apple/Android stores, but don't ask me about them - I don't need/have never used them.
If you reply tonight, I'll pick up in the morning us old 'uns need our sleep. 😀

the hub 2 is WiFi, Iup until recently I had a WiFi router and would get around 400Mb under ideal conditions on my WiFi 6 laptop . I ve just changed to a WiFi router and the lappie now gets around 800Mb.
