Full fibre and fixed IP / DNS hosting

I currently have a FTTC connection with a fixed IP address and a domain hosted on that connection (both legacy products). Does anyone know if upgrading to FTTP effects these legacy products?

@smithg

No and Yes

I believe upgrading doesn't affect your products but PN currently have a problem with how static IP's are displayed after the upgrade. Someone will come along and give you a more detailed answer.

Re: Full fibre and fixed IP / DNS hosting

Hi,

Domain name  & email remains on your existing account - I moved across last Wednesday and all domain/email traffic still working fine.

I asked prior to the move if my static IP would still be there and was assured yes, it stays with your account.   I have a static IP as I have a 'phone system that require a static I setting within the system so was a requirement  for it to work properly.

I noticed on installation day I was getting a totally different IP address. Restarted router and got a different IP address to the first different address.

Have received reply to my open question that there are known issues with the FTTP static IP provision, even though my account still has my static IP on it at the PlusNet end, and these are being investigated.

For me i've changed the IP within my phone system to match what's currently in the router and all is fine, my only concern is if, for some reason, the IP address in router changes yet again and I don't pick up on it resulting in my phone system not working so hopefully a fix will be found soon!

Must say the PlusNet staff i've spoken to relating to this have been very helpful, as always.

Not that I understand it fully but the following is what was in question update

"There is currently two known issues with FTTP accounts.
1) Customer's Static IP is removed following an account change to Full Fibre (E2E-1808)
2) Customer's Static IP is not assigned to the connection following an account change to Full Fibre - IP Is present in RADIUS (E2E-1744)"

I believe that the removal (E2E-1808) is fixed and won't impact customers any longer.

Not being assigned the static ip is still under investigation.

Re: Full fibre and fixed IP / DNS hosting

Seems like that issue may well be resolved too.

Thanks for that

I'll turn my router of for a few minutes and see what happens.

Much appreciated

Fix

@smithg

It appears from another thread the StaticIP problem has been fixed and shouldn't affect new accounts from now.
