Full Fibre 900 - Only Getting 500–550 Mbps on Wired Connection

Hi,

I had Plusnet Full Fibre 900 installed today.

I’m testing using a wired connection through the Plusnet Hub Two and consistently seeing around 500–550 Mbps download speed, which doesn’t seem close to the expected 900 Mbps.

This is using multiple wired devices connected directly to the provided router. Upload looks as expected around 110 Mbps.

I understand there may be some settling period, but I was under the impression FTTP doesn’t have a 10–14 day training period like VDSL.

Correct, for fttp as long as the isp has set you on the right "profile"  you will have that speed there is no 10-14 day period.

@mldawson  Have you received the "Your product change is now complete"  or "Your Broadband is now ready to use" email from Plusnet?

I upgraded to 300Mbps Full Fibre and it was installed on the 4th of July (ignoring the 100 day wait for Openreach to repair a blocked duct😠)  Download speed was low, around 90Mbps, upload was as expected close to 50Mbps. Support said the order was not closed off on BT Wholesale systems and were waiting for an update. 

Email confirming order complete received yesterday evening, now getting 300Mbps download.😁

Thank you. That’s helpful to know. I received the “Your fibre broadband’s ready to go” email yesterday evening, but after seeing the speeds, I suspected it might have provisioned at 500Mb instead.

I posted here because I saw someone mention a similar issue in their community post. They mentioned that a support team member spotted their post and updated something on their profile, which sorted it and got them full speeds.

I’ll give it a few days in case things update on their own, but if not, hopefully support can check if something similar needs adjusting on my account.

@RealAleMadrid Thank you for advising waiting. I am now getting around 900Mbps, whatever the issue was seems to have resolved itself.

@mldawson  Good to hear it's up to speed now, it seems that there can be some delay in the speed updating to the correct levels.
