Finally FTTP has arrived for me

L2C is simply Openreach terminology for Lead to Cash. Meaning it is not a simple installation, and would need an experienced installer to try and find a simple solution.

This part - don't like it all! - sound like not very easy and too complex job to do FTTP.

Apart from an elevated D/S SNR, I can't see anything wrong there. Can  you post a full screenshot of the result of BT Broadband , obscuring your phone number?

That is because the relevant key information is missing - line speed, error rates, interleave depth.  SNRM and line attenuation in isolation tell us nothing.

The BT report of what is available still needs to be compared to what is being delivered, as reported in the router stats.

Guys I was just posting the noise levels I was getting today, just as general information, they should be in the range of 6.0-6.5 normally for me. Today they went sky high, its ok, I wasn't looking for a fix for that or anything, was just having a gripe about it with the whole FTTP not getting installed because OR hasn't finished the work and is difficult to get them to actually physically come out to do so debacle at the same time

You need to post your full router stats!

@TheRealDabhand Until your FTTP is installed, you need to deal with issues on your FTTC  connection, unless you just want o moan, in which case let us know and we will ignore you.

If you are struggling with installation and perceived poor performance, fixing the latter is probably a swifter solution.

SNRM up / down or whatever in isolation from the sync speed / time since last connection is an irrelevant consideration. All that a variable SNRM tells you is either there is interference either at the time of the last sync or at the time you looked at the figures.

The source of the interference could be anything and is probably located in your home. Now is the season of amongst other culprits Christmas tree lights blighting xDSL services.

A gripe isn't a moan, I will say that for a start. A Gripe is a sign of dissatisfaction on something that happens continuous, which my issue has been for a long time now.

Basically was speaking to the other user, who was trying to be helpful, and I just was chatting his way, and noticed my download speeds hit near rock bottom and decided to just post the noise levels in a snippet. I wasn't really looking for a fix, I knew with the weather etc it would improve eventually, hence why I did the comical "meanwhile" above the pic. And I know people aren't always aware of Japanese humour either, especially with "yare yare" - a comical phrase used in a lot of comedies and anime - as a "oh what now" "it can't be helped".

It was like a "ahh of course it would" type of moment, something to pile on top of the FTTP problems I have been having. A bit of sarcasm if you will.

I think your ending to your post was a bit not nice, no?

I have been having this issue a lot over 3 years, it's nothing in the home I assure you, the phone master socket is newish too. The sad fact is the problems always at the local exchange where it is in an open environment so wet weather and the cold will affect it a bit. But today was a bit higher than normal, but it has dropped considerably since then.

Which is why I am not too fussed about a fix for it Thanks though.

Where SNRM is variable as you report, it is when it is low that you need to be concerned. When it is high it implies that there is presently less noise than there was, thus there should be fewer data retransmissions due to line errors.

In my case the opposite was true, download speed was effectively reduced. I knew it was a short hiccup, think it lasted 10-15 minutes and it fell down again.

Either way, hopefully on the 5th I will finally get that ONT installed and go from there, if not I think I will have to throw the £6 per day automatic refund, as per Ofcom rule, since the 1st Oct to PN. Sadly that would be the only way both PN and OR will actually work hard to make this work, PN have done what they can, but I think they are failing to push the importance of going out to physically check so OR just checks their system "Oh this postcode is done, so external work is done."

Don't want to do that, as I would prefer to finally get fibre in, but sadly what other options do I have when VM isn't even in my area?
