Fastest achievable WiFi speed on the Hub Two router

Hi. I'm currently on the 300Mb package which finishes in Feb. It's fast enough for our needs but if I was to upgrade am I right in saying that the Hub Two tops out at about 433Mb?

Re: Fastest achievable WiFi speed on the Hub Two router

@Megaafc1 that's about right. The Hub 2 is only wifi5 capable. I used to use a wifi5 router (not a Hub 2) and it limited my wifi speed on my laptop to about 450Mb.

As an example of what is possible, my laptop is wifi6 capable and changing to a wifi6 capable router I can now get around 750Mb. Do I notice any difference in reality, well not really!

If you are close enough to exceed 433Mb/s on half duplex Wi-Fi you are close enough to use a full duplex network cable !

Re: Fastest achievable WiFi speed on the Hub Two router

Uh?

What "speed" are we talking about here? It's possible I am misunderstanding something...

I use a standard PN Hub 2 router on 5GHz Wi-Fi only, and a little dual band TP-Link Archer AC1300 Mini Wireless USB adaptor. From the router logs the Wi-Fi *connection* is shown at various speeds - but they are all over 433Mb(ps). Here I mean link connection speed, not download speed. As I am on 150Mbps FF I clearly can't stress the Wi-Fi data rate.

Here are a few samples from the Hub 2 router Event log:

11:55:48, 14 Dec. 5G Client associate from 60:**:**:**:**:28 (IP=192.168.1.132) RSSI=-54, Rate=585Mbps, host Lizard

22:43:25, 10 Dec. 5G Client associate from 60:**:**:**:**:28 (IP=192.168.1.132) RSSI=-47, Rate=780Mbps, host Lizard

This one takes the biscuit - but why is the host name not shown? In too much of a hurry? 🙂

Re: Fastest achievable WiFi speed on the Hub Two router

Thanks for the reply. I mainly use my phone (OnePlus 13) which has WiFi 7, my Nvidia Shield and I use my laptop occasionally. My other half only uses her laptop. I don't do any gaming so I might just keep my current package or upgrade to 500Mb. I don't think there's any point in changing my router as I don't have anything that I use ethernet cables on.

Thank you for the reply. I might get one of those TP-Link Archer AC1300 Mini Wireless USB adaptors then. Thanks again. 👍

I'm talking throughput.

Re: Fastest achievable WiFi speed on the Hub Two router

Decided to upgrade to the 500Mb package and I've managed to get very good speeds with the Hub Two. Got around 500Mb, 506Mb max this morning. 👍
