[FTTP] soon to be a regular package?

Hi
My exchange (EAMAD) has started FTTP - well 1 road can order it!
A few other PON's are due to be released for orders in the next couple of weeks, so we have been told.
I'm due for it, & might be part of the next couple of week batch.
Is PlusNet offering FTTP yet, or is it still a trial?  If not, does anyone know if it is imminent, or not?
Thanks

Re: [FTTP] soon to be a regular package?

Thanks Chris
Is there an estimated date to go out of trial and onto normal produce?
Failing that, is the trial still open for new connections, & what would the trial involve from my side?
One small part of our exchange is now accepting orders for FTTP & two other larger parts are expecting release in a week or two.
Thanks

Re: [FTTP] soon to be a regular package?

Is the trial still open, and if so, what does it involve?
2 zones are now open for FTTP on my exchange, I'm expecting to be the next zone in the next few weeks.
I'm not really going to be wanting to wait months for Plusnet to make FTTP available, I've waited long enough for fiber!
Thanks

Yes the trial is still available on a chargeable basis, take a look here for the info: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,87700.0.html

Thanks Chris
The last post in that thread is 18 months ago, and only mentions 2 exchanges for FTTP.  Neither of which is mine.
Indeed, its asking for trialists from nearly 2 years ago.
Can any FTTP exchange be considered for a trial, and what does being a trialist involve?

It was the first post in that thread that contains the information you needed:

If you go directly to trials.plus.net and click the relevant link it'll give you all the info, prices and allow you to signup.

Re: [FTTP] soon to be a regular package?

Are these only open to existing customers then?
A friend on one of the recently active FTTP areas in my exchange phoned Plusnet to hear that Plusnet dont do FTTP in our exchange.
Are you doing it in any other exchanges than the 2 origional ones, or is it just because he isnt on PN already?

Re: [FTTP] soon to be a regular package?

Same here, I am also on Madingley (EAMAD) and I can now order 160Mbit FTTP Infinity from BT. But I don't necessarily want to. To remain a Plusnet customer I need to be able to order:
1. Now
2. 160Mbits
3. Unlimited because 250GB will go just like that with the whole family watching catchup TV (we currently use 80GB without any peak time streaming). You don't do an unlimited package but BT do - why?
4. The lowest price available for any new or existing customer.
My reasons for staying with Plusnet are that you currently host my domains included in my *old* Premier package and you have decent customer service.
So am I in luck or not? If not yet, when can I buy FTTP from you?
I was a founder of our team that won the Race To Infinity compo *2 years ago* and we only just have fibre!

Your chance of getting number 3 (unlimited) from Plusnet is practically nil!

Re: [FTTP] soon to be a regular package?

250 GB should give you around 4-5 hrs a day of HD only videos on iPlayer.
I thought CatchUp TV only uses around 500-700mb an hour?

Re: [FTTP] soon to be a regular package?

I'm not sure I'm interested in unlimited or the fastest possible at the moment.
My normal usage is something round 30-40GB.  I guess that might double if I can stream some HD movies or suchlike.
A couple of years down the line, then I would expect more capacity in the ISP's as FTTC & FTTP is rolled out, so I reckon that by the time I'm doing all my computing in the cloud (*), then the systems will have expanded to cope.
Its the "available now" that I'm after.  I've applied for the trial, but not heard anything yet.
Is anyone on the trial, outside of the Bradwell & Highams exchanges? (rather than On Demand trials)
