FTTP and PNTV

So I got a letter through the door advertising the Pntv exclusive for Fibre customers. I have been after something like this for a while as I don't want to shell out for a sky subscription and as I work long hours away from home this seemed ideal for the misses and the kids. I rang up and asked to take out the package. I was then told I couldn't because my exchange wasn't multicast enabled. I did a bt wholesale check and it said my exchange was, so I rang back and they then checked and confirmed, then I was told I couldn't get the Tv because I was on the FTTP trial?! It seems odd to me that I can't get it, I have fibre, I have multicast and fibre is readily available in my area. Are you going to sort this soon or at least advertise it's not available to people who have FTTP?

Re: FTTP and PNTV

I don't think there's any specific terms that say you can't take it out. I'm pretty sure I've spoke with the project manager about this. Let me speak with him again when I'm next in the office, and if we can sort it, I'll contact you.  Cool

Re: FTTP and PNTV

I think there was one of the FTTP trialists on the Plusnet TV trial, so it should work. I know a few people with BT TV and FTTP and that works fine, so PN's service should be no different.

Re: FTTP and PNTV

I was specifically told I cannot get it because I'm on FTTP. They said it's just not compatible.

Re: FTTP and PNTV

I see no technical reason why it wouldn't work, but maybe Matty can confirm.
I think beeceegee was on the Youview trial (he also has FTTP).

Re: FTTP and PNTV

Wholesale, it's not a problem. I'm just looking to see if there's any PN based limitations, and if so, I can make an exception to get round them.
@OP - I'll send you a PM tomorrow to discuss  Smiley

Re: FTTP and PNTV

My apologies, the person I was after wasn't in. Still working on this today for you.

Have just left a voicemail on your mobile. Is there a more convenient time to call?

Re: FTTP and PNTV

Hello matty, just got your voicemail. I'm a driver my trade so I either spend a lot of time with no signal or I can't answer as I'm driving. I will be working until late today unless they want to ring me after 7pm today?

Re: FTTP and PNTV

Right, unfortunately we are unable to get TV active on FTTP at the moment.
I'm really sorry for this, as I've misinformed a couple of folk here. The limitations of this are in-house at the moment as it would technically work as a product.
Once again, apologies for the inconvenience.

Re: FTTP and PNTV

Hi all, it doesn't look like we'll providing PNTV over FTTP anytime in the near future. Rest assureed we'll update everyone via here if that changes at some point.
