Re: FTTP Trial install - timescales - #117522106

Hello Paul,
Any news on the external install? Internal install is around 4 weeks off, how many weeks before the internal is the external usually completed?
Thankyou.

Nothing new as of yet, usually 1-2 weeks beforehand, still keeping an eye out though Smiley

Re: FTTP Trial install - timescales - #117522106

Don't get your hopes up too much, in my experience, getting FTTP is a tortuous business. I had my external work done in mid December and shortly afterwards had an appointment for the internal work ( for which I must be at home, or risk a circa £50 charge!) on  5/1. This resulted in a no show, no notification or even an apology, I had to go through the tedious process of contacting Plusnet to rearrange. New appt 119/1, again ,no show, repeat process. New appointment 1/2, again, no show, repeat process. 3 wasted days of holiday allocation, endless hours spent on hold to Plusnet, numerous promises of call backs which never come to fruition. Basically being told a cynical pack of fibs! Are my expectations too high?

When we were hooked up back in December 2013 it was only a few days between the external and internal works (with the same chap in charge of both). OK it took 2 years from when fttp first became available in the village to getting fibre to the top of our pole, but that's another story  Roll_eyes

Brill, the fibre is up the pole so fingers crossed!!
Col, out of interest, what county are you in and was it over the pole or underground?

Dazrog, I'm in Herefordshire and the fibre is above ground. Interestingly, where the exhisting copper goes underground, they put in several new poles and went above ground with the Fibre.

Just got off the phone about this order, the external appt is actually the 18th Feb AM. I'll confirm on the ticket too.

Re: FTTP Trial install - timescales - #117522106

Hello,
Progress! 2 day earlier than the scheduled external install date, I've come home to this on the side of my house (see attachment), connected to the pole. They have also been to a number of other houses in the area, including another on my street. However am I right in saying this should be attached to a box, similar to the 1 in the link below?
