FTTP Performance Issues?

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing any issues?
My speed has dropped from around 85Mb/s to 30Mb/s and pings have jumped to sites like BBC (used to be consistently 4-6ms). I am on Bradwell Abbey with the 100/15 service.

Is the weather having any impact (not sure why it would)?

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

Here is a copy of my Speed Test this morning:

And here is a copy of my TBB Ping Graph from last night to today:

At about 10pm last night, I was back to normal speeds.

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

Hi I'm on the same exchange and my speeds are way down this morning. In general I have seen a slowdown to about 35MB most days recently but today its (relatively) crawling along...right now download speed is 11MB.

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

I thought it might be related to more people using their connections due to being at home with the snow - but it appears to be getting progressively worse this morning. My speeds are down to below 5Mb/s right now and pings increasing to 30-40ms to sites which normally are below 10ms.
Could someone from PN look at this?
Thanks

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

Tried to raise this with the Helpdesk, waited 35 mins to talk to someone, was told it was more than likely the weather as this affects fibre optic connections, was put on hold while he checked further, waited 10 mins then got disconnected  Angry

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

@ livinginhope - Thanks for the update. I guess there is no point in me raising a support ticket too now. Did they say where the problem is?

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

AndyH - no just that they were looking at it. I updated the post saying that there are at least two of us so its not going to be an individual line or house.

@ livinginhope
Ok thanks for the update. I raised the ticket too just in case. Have you tried the TBB ping monitor to compare with mine (http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/monitors.html)? I'd be interested what other users are like on Bradwell Abbey. I wonder if it is a congestion issue as everything looks fine late at night/early morning. If it was a general PN issue, I would have expected similar graphs by other users on other ADSL/Fibre Products?

As silly as it sounds it might, if everyone is working from home in Milton Keynes then that could explain things, especially when you look at the Thinkbroadband ping monitor. Did just start yesterday or has it been going on for a while? I've asked BTW to have a look and I had an FTTP call this morning and asked if any of the other ISPs were seeing anything and they were going to have a look.

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

@ Dave
I would say my slowdown has been since Fri so pretty much about the same time as the bad weather started. Having said that, I didn't experience any problems over the XMAS period when you would have expected higher than normal traffic with people not being at work etc.
The only reason I noticed the problem was suddenly a lot of websites (bbc.co.uk/facebook.com/google.co.uk) were not loading properly - some not loading at all and some part loading. Tried the usual things like rebooting the ONT/router which seem to provide a temporary solution for a few mins.
My next door neighbour is with BT Infinity on the 330/30 trial so I will pester him to try the Ping Monitor and see if he has noticed a slowdown too recently.

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

My next door neighbour has gone down to 75Mb/s (normally gets 300Mb/s) and another user with AAISP has reported worse speeds than me with packet loss etc. So seems an exchange issue affecting all ISPs.
Infinity/AAISP have raised the issue with BT.

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

Yep, AAISP just told me they've seen the same, I think one of you has already had the issue raised to BT as the system picked up a fault on the automated tests but I'll check and see if we can get the other in too and get the linked together.

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

Just for the record, I am also seeing reduced speeds, particularly Download.
Not sure what I am really gettinig, as BT Wholesale Tester gives results around 18MB/s Down (and 14MB/s Up), whereas ThinkBroadband just gave me only 2.9MB/s Down and 14.6MB/s Up.  2.9MB/s is geting seriously slow (compared to what FTTP is supposed to give).
@Dave:  I know that you have it in hand, so good luck.

Re: FTTP Performance Issues?

Bit of an update. Speeds very erratic at the moment but mainly still slow, in the low teens. I will say that the daytime speeds have been generally slower than the after midnight speeds for some time now but I had put that down to traffic management - but I havnt seen this kind of slowdown for a couple of years...
