The BT engineer just left after doing the FTTC install. All went smoothly but it seems my IP profile has not been updated yet, I see the following on the plus.net site.
Phone exchange:

Estimated line speed:
5Mb (This may vary between 5.5Mb and 12Mb) - Checked on 2011-01-07 18:10:48
Current line speed:
11 Mb
Many thanks
Eric

Has your Plusnet IP profile changed yet? It should be a lot higher than your original 11Mb, more like 20Mb (an old default for FTTC) or more recently 37Mbs.

Is what I get from the Plus.net site, speed over the last couple of days has been improved but tonight I seem to be getting poor results on the bt speedtest.

That is still the wrong profile. It should be 20Mb or 37Mb. Anything else and it's not an FTTC profile. Ring support if nothing happens in the next day.

@PN: it would probably be helpful if the profiles shown in member centre had a little extra info like a type, say ADSL, ADSL2+, FTTC, FTTP, if that were possible.
@livetag: the 5Mb etc means nothing, of course, because that is an ADSL estimate. What does mybroadbandspeed.co.uk say, out of interest?

Updated your profile - reboot the netgear and let me know if your speeds improve or not.
Hopefully your speeds will improve!
