Back up after being down for 25 days > 20MB down - FTTC Trial commenced 10 Nov

Started FTTC trial on morning of Wed 10 Nov.
BT engineer took about a hour - new face plate, and modem along with Netgear WNR1000v2 from plusnet
Had been getting speeds of 2-3MB/s download and 0.4MB/s upload before FTTC trial.
Rest of Wed 10 and Thurs 11 speeds got up to 6MB/s down and 3MB/s up.

Then today (12th Nov) back to speeds of pre FTTC

All advice / guidance very welcome.

Re: FTTC Trial commenced 10 Nov

How are you connecting to the router? By wireless? Or ethernet cable? If it's the former, that could be why.
First thing to try is plugging your test PC directly into the router and re-testing it with the same speed checker. See how you get on with that.
If the speeds are still low, reboot both your modem and router and re-test.
You need to bear in mind that your speeds will fluctuate during the first 10 days of connection as your connection is going through a 'training' phase. Your speeds shouldn't drop as low as they are now though...

Re: FTTC Trial commenced 10 Nov

Well the above speeds were via wireless.
I now am connected directly to router via cable
Speed is lower still 2MB down and up!

I have also rebooted and connected via cable to router, and still getting the same slow speeds

Update 13 Nov PM
Just installed Netgear Wireless-N 300 USB Adapter (WN111 v2)
Speeds have improved from the lows of 2MB down over the last few days - especially download - upload still very slow

Did you reboot the router and modem? It's very important that you reset both of them!

Re: < 6MB down - FTTC Trial commenced 10 Nov

Hi Paul, I rebooted both - in the order of the modem and then the router at least once a day since 10 Nov.
Are you also suggesting that I reset the router - and then set up the plusdsl.net u/n and password again?
Thanks

Ah. OK. It sounds like you need to raise a fault ticket then...
Run the BT speedtester and see what that comes up with. It maybe useful for the Plusnet team as part of their fault finding.

No, that won't achieve anything.

Re: < 6MB down - FTTC Trial commenced 10 Nov

19:20  - 7 hours or so after installation of Netgear Wireless-N 300 USB Adapter (WN111 v2)
Could this be the reason for the steady increase in download speeds?
However, upload still remains very slow - about 2MB
