Anyone used extension fibre leads ?

Has anyone used the likes of this to extend their fibre ?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vesperia-Armored-Network-Simplex-Singlemode/dp/B0CDKPGBJQ

Neighbour is having a major rebuild and the ONT is now in an awkward place, so thinking of extending the fibre instead of paying for an ONT move (and no guarantee they'd agree to the new location).  It would be a 10m run along the skirting / behind  wall boarding.

Failing that of course he can run some CAT6 and leave the ONT where it is, but still get the hub/router somewhere sensible.

Have a look at

but the cat5e/cat6 is probably simpler

Thanks for that link

Simpler indeed, but has a greater 'wife incompatibility issue' in that one of the 'ugly flashy light thingies' and its' mains supply is now on show if the ONT does not move.

The 10m fibre extension is to hide it in the TV unit again !

@mwwagain

In that case it's a no brainer, get a fibre extension lead and see how well it works. The cost is insignificant in terms of matrimonial bliss. Note that there will be screws in the wall that were holding the ONT in place.

Please report back on how well it works as I'm sure that you won't be the last to try this solution.

.Alternatively, the non recommended approach: Don a tin hat and in a bold voice say "You'll learn to live with it before I move it!"

Before then making the order for the extension kit, perhaps opting for next-day delivery.... 😉
