If you run task manager, performance tab and look at the network graph, what does that report?  It show show utilisation and connection speed.

The fact that you get 500mbps over ethernet proves that there is no issue with the FTTP service here, but rather a local / environmental challenge with WiFi.  The usual WiFi inspection with inSSIDer and ensuring that the chosen channel is not congested seems like an appropraite approach.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Click the network/Wi-Fi icon in the task bar, go to the properties for your active Wi-Fi connection and scroll right down to the bottom of the resulting window. What Wi-Fi radio is the laptop connecting to and what is the PHY rate?
