can i get 2mb or 1mb on my line ?

ATM im with tesco net 512k and im leaving them on 27sept, they dont have a MAC code Sad

So i pursume there will be down time for a week for so.

Main reason im leaving is becasue they only do 512k and there dearer than plus.net

Here are figures from my dlink router.
Are these figures ok for 1mb or 2mb connection ?

Item Downstream Upstream Unit
SNR -- Margin Down Stream 8 -- UP stream 22 dB
Line Attenuation -- Down Stream 63 -- UP stream 63 dB
Data Rate 576 288 kbps
Max Tx Power -38 dBm/Hz

Unfortunately, those figures are way too high for 2Mb and even too high for 1Mb at the moment.

You have to have attenuation at less than 60dB for 1Mb and less than 43dB for 2Mb. Your SNR Margin is also a factor, and at a worrying 8dB, I can safely say that you are outside the limits at the moment.

thanks for the reply, my bt exchange should be getting upgraded any day now, will the upgrade improve my chances, or would it not make any difference.

It won't make any difference unfortunately. All exchanges are capable of 2Mb already. What you are reffering to is the bulk upgrade procedure which will see all users connected to the exchange upgraded to the maximum as per the line can support upto 2Mb.
