intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

I have been experiencing intermittent slowdowns since Wednesday 4th December. I have an open call which I'm updating but I was wondering if any one else is having issues too.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Well the day that the engineer was here and there were no problems. FTTP link passed his tests.
Now two days later and download speed this morning is 0.42Mbps on BTW speedtest with 17Mbps upload.
However the TAP3 test showed 68.37Mbps download but 0.01Mbps upload .
Call log updated and phoned PN to let them know.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Problem back again.
Speed down to zero last night at 7pm i.e. it was unmeasurable.
The BT Wholesale test site would no load the page after clicking yes to confirm. All that happened is that the page changes to the page two header but never loads the flash tester. The page also does not time out, the Firefox loading icon is always rotating and never timed out. IE10 would time out.
This morning was able to perform a TAP3 test with the following results
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Download Speed
3.17 Mbps

0 Mbps 76.8 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 3.17 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-76.8 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 76.8 Mbps
2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.
Upload Speed
0.01 Mbps

0 Mbps 20 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.01Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps.

At least this morning I can load some web pages although some will not load .i.e. on Thinkbroadband.com I can log in but when I click on the monitor to get the larger graph that will not load. The graph is a blank white box with a rotating icon in its centre.
The small Thinkbroadband monitor does not show any issues except when I have had to reboot the router to do the TAP3 test.
I have updated the outstanding fault call but I am frustrated as it is now 39 days since this issue started. Have had two Openreach engineers out but it is always working at full speed when they turn up.

Where abouts are you in MK?
There are possibly some other BT Infinity users with the same issue - https://uk.groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/MKBAG/conversations/topics/9062

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Hi AndyH
I'm in Walnut Tree.
Just had my third engineer visit since 4th December. He has replaced the Openreach modem and the speed test results are currently at 74.33/19.74/25.00 on the BTW speed test. This is about what I have been getting since FTTP was installed. I had no issues for the first 6 months or so. It has all happened since the start of December.
Now waiting to see if the issue re-occurs.
My TBB monitor shows when the engineer was here today - http://www.thinkbroadband.com/ping/share/1fa8853837e3a5afcd18a0dcbc823cf7.html

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Hi George
I've had a look at the BT forums and there are 4 other users in Walnut Tree reporting exactly the same problems as you at the moment: https://community.bt.com/t5/BT-Infinity-Speed-Connection/FTTP-Problems-0-86Mbps-down/td-p/1121858/pa...
Has this been fixed yet for you? If not, I would add that link to your PN ticket - it seems to be a localised problem in the area.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Hi AndyH
Been 6 days now and (touch wood) the speed has remained in the 73Mbps+ range since the replacement of the Openreach modem.
If the problem re-occurs I will add the link to the BT support forums for Will to read. Thanks for finding it.
As my problem seems to re-occur every 14 days or so I will not be happy until a month has passed without incident. When the problem strikes I get zero Mbps for several hours which slowly ramps up to full speed over an 8 to 36 hour window.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

I would keep an eye on things and run some random tests if you can.
I bet the problem is still ongoing if it's still affecting other people in Walnut Tree.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

HI again
Just read all the thread at BT forum.
The symptoms described by JTG6 and rr54 are what I see. I cannot load ANY page that is not totally cached in the browser. The Firefox loading icon just circles and the tab header and background colour changes to that site's design e.g. plus.net. It will never time out. Using IE10, it times out in a minute.
I did have speedtest.net cached and that reported 73Mbps/20Mbps/9ms when no other web page would load. Once I cleared my browser cache, then I could not load that page either. Windows task manager showed the speedtest.net site traffic blips to match the test as it ran.
My dates don't match that of rr54 but the rest is exactly what I see.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Hi
That's useful to know.
We've just had an update from someone on the MKBAG forum that BT are going to reset or reseat a line card due to the large number of people raising the issue in MK.
If that problem happens again...try running a traceroute (Start > Run > cmd (Return) > pathping bbc.co.uk) to see how far that is getting.

Me and my big mouth
While the speed is not through the floor, BT speedtest is running at 0.14Mbps/18.29Mbps/24.50ms. Speedtest.net is 73.98Mbps/21.23Mbps/5ms.

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

Yeah, something clearly is not right there.
To compare (in Willen):

I am not so sure about that line card thing too...I think this applies to ADSL and not fibre products (which connect straight to the exchange MSEs)?
dave said he will pick up on this which is good as he's the best man for the job in getting it fixed!

Re: intermittentSlow speeds since 4th December on MK FTTP

JTG6 has just posted his speed test on the BT forums:

He's on Infinity 3 I think (200/20Mb)
