Re: Ticket update 162004457

Hopefully someone from Openreach or Plusnet will read this. They might learn something.

Re: Ticket update 162004457

@bmc As I have no knowledge of @gavcuk level of engineering skills I prefer to keep it simple no offense to Gav. So as I have at the end of the road of my road two green cabs one for Twisted Sisters the other for Buzz Light-year. I conclude that others have the same. Now Gav might be a optical engineer with 75 years of experience but if he was would he be posting questions on this forum. Or would he not be taking the [-Censored-] out of OR on some other more technical one?

So yes it may be nodes and things now but lets understand the audience we are talking to. okay

Regards.

David

@gavcuk You would hope so. But me think the guys will have a laptop with a checklist on. So if it falls outside the box then it is lost forever. But you never know!

Re: Ticket update 162004457

Not sure what happened here but I’m super grateful for the technical info shared here.

To this point neither plusnet nor Openreach have convinced me they know what to do next.

Re: Ticket update 162004457

@gavcuk Quick question gav have you connected a laptop/pc directly into the modem and done a speed test that way?

Re: Ticket update 162004457

Sure have. Was keen to rule out any router issue. Fault is persistent direct to laptop, with hub one and with google WiFi

@gavcuk it was just a final thought as I couldn't remember reading it.

Re: Ticket update 162004457

Could you confirm that when you say direct to laptop it is through a PPPoE dial up connection using an Ethernet cable directly to the ONT.

Re: Ticket update 162004457

I do wonder if this ONT is duff. When it seems to go down, a two minute power off and restart seems to bring it back.

Or maybe its power supply?  If you've got a spare one lying about with similar specs (same voltage, but higher A/mA won't matter) it might be worth trying.

Re: Ticket update 162004457

Sorry to read of your experience.

With regards to getting a different type of engineer out there, sadly we don't have that luxury. When we raise a broadband fault to our suppliers, we'd arrange an engineer visit. It'd be due to our suppliers/Openreach to assign the correct one.

I can see our suppliers have left notes for Openreach again that a precision testing officer is required.

Can you let us know how the visit goes we've got booked in?

Re: Ticket update 162004457

It looks like the engineer advises us that there's no fault on the Openreach network, but they spoke with BT Wholesale and it's been passed to their complex faults team to remap your circuit and a new virtual path given.

We should know more in 2 working days.

Re: Ticket update 162004457

Both Openreach and Plusnet are clutching at straws and have no idea what they are doing.

Zero confidence in this ever getting fixed. Feel like going back to ADSL. Cannot believe I’m saying that! What a joke.

Do me proud is the ultimate irony.

Faults where our tests don't definitively advise the cause of can generally be a case of trial and error until the cause of the problem is found. Leave this with me to follow up tomorrow.
