Third party fttp router

I am considering buying a third party fttp router for better performance/user interface etc.

I was looking at the "TP-Link AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Cable Gaming Router"

Since I will be plugging it into a modem via a network cable.... Can I pretty much select any router and I will not have any issues are are specific brands better at working with the bt modem than others?

I'm on the FTTP trial and have been using a TP-Link Archer C5 V1.2 for over 2 years without any issues.
