Post FTTC install - euphoria, followed by a little bewilderment!

Does anyone at PlusNet monitor the performance post FTTC install, or is the user expected to flag issues?
Assuming the latter... install on Friday afternoon 07-Jan-2011.
Pre FTTC install times approx 13Mb;
Initial post FTTC install a very promising 28Mb;
rapidly followed by a welcome improvement to 36Mb:
However... the following day the download has dropped to, & stayed at, around my original pre-install figure of 13Mb;
I have done multiple tests to get an average (both upload & download have been pretty consistent). I have also rebooted both the BT supplied modem (cold reboot) & the Billion 7800N router (warm reboot) several times.
Any ideas very welcome. I am more than a little puzzled ATM & would like to see that 36Mb back!  Huh

BTW after some confusion around a reschedule for the install, I have to say once a date was agreed, PlusNet's handling was faultless - first class comms (liked the SMS updates) & when the two BT engineers turned up they were very good as well.

Sounds like your Plusnet profile might have got reset back to your pre-FTTC setting due to a delta update prior to your FTTC install.
What does it say here https://portal.plus.net/m...ction=data_transfer_speed ? it should say 20000 ( effectively unrestricted ) if its updated properly.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately the link didn't work - any chance you could repost please?

Were the speed tests done using WiFi or an ethernet connection?

Thanks for clarifying Peter. Shows as follows;
    Telephone number:
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    Phone exchange:
    ALTRINCHAM
    Estimated line speed:
    8Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2010-07-27 14:22:04
    Current line speed:
    13000
Thanks

Thanks Peter - appended to Question #37228653 (original install request). Please advise if you think this merits a dedicated ticket.

Just asked an agent to reset it for you.

Thanks Kelly. Do I need to bounce the modem or router or both after the reset?

Usually no as it is just controlling your data rate and not your physical sync rate. If the data rate has not changed after the IP profile changes then try a reboot.

Re: Post FTTC install - euphoria, followed by a little bewilderment!

Data transfer speed from Plusnet link unchanged at
    Estimated line speed:
    8Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2010-07-27 14:22:04
    Current line speed:
    13000
Download speed test still at 12Mb:
Am I waiting for the 'Current line speed' value to change from 13000 to 20000 as suggested above, before retrying?

Wasn't done last night.  Agent might not have got my message.  I've changed it now.

Thanks again Kelly - I have confirmed the revised setting shows up on the Plusnet data transfer speed link;
    Estimated line speed:
        8Mb (Accurate to within +/- 1Mbit) - Checked on 2010-07-27 14:22:04
    Current line speed:
        20000
Will retry speed test when I get home (must get that remote access malarkey sorted!  Embarrassed )
