Re: Fibre to the Premises - FTTP Trial

Also, Any idea what router I will be sent? I am currently using my old Belkin one, because my new one hasn't arrived yet (sent last week sometime)...
When I get on FTTP will I need a new router? It so can I have a Netgear WNR3500 one also as I need maximum WiFi range?
Cheers
John

Re: Fibre to the Premises - FTTP Trial

Had my install today and went without a hitch, even kindly squeezed the optical down my exisiting conduit (first floor lounge) to save tacking the cable up the outside of the house.

@ youngsyp
My ping is around 10ms, a good improvement on the 30ms+ (sometimes upto 100 or so) I had before.
@ Dave
Cheers Dave, got there in the end.

Look forward to trying out some black ops on it over the weekend Smiley

Re: Fibre to the Premises - FTTP Trial

Hi,
I just read the post about the "build" being finished.  Does this mean I'm doomed, even though I saw Openreach laying what I assumed to be cable a month or so ago?

Re: Fibre to the Premises - FTTP Trial

Hi Chris,
My data shows you're on cab 39 which hasn't been included in the trial area unfortunately. I've not heard about any changes to the trial area so may the Openreach people you saw may not have been doing FTTP. There's a possibility they will review the missed areas to see if they can do FTTC but it's not likely for a while.

Hi Dave
Arrived today, thank you! Cheesy Took 10 minutes to set-up and is working great. I'll post in a week or so on if the wifi issues have gone away.
I have the Thomson all boxed up in the original packaging. Do you want it back?

Re: Fibre to the Premises - FTTP Trial

Hi Dave,
Re: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,83633.msg764240.html#msg764240 ; That fits in with what I have seen.  Any current IP sessions, e.g. ssh don't drop, and if I VPN in to the office, I can then access everything.  I've updated the DNS settings on the router as suggested, and will let you know how it goes.  At moment, pre dns update, the connection is defaulting to the BT service page, 20-30 times a day, so fingers crossed.....
Thanks

Re: Fibre to the Premises - FTTP Trial

Hi,
Just for info, we are on the FTTP trial and we also were seeing the BT Service Page a lot. Having modified the DNS settings the problem went away but this is just fixing the symptoms rather than the problem, which is at BT's end.
Other than that we're really pleased so far Smiley
