FTTP speeds seem a bit slow on unlimited fibre (33mbps instead of 40mbps)

Hi Guys... I "think" I should be on around 40mbps but every test I do when linked directly to my router over network cable says I am only getting 33mbps. I this the normal speed for unlimited fibre?

I am sure it was supposed to be 40mbps ... but perhaps I got it wrong.

Thanks

Re: FTTP speeds seem a bit slow on unlimited fibre (33mbps instead of 40mbps)

@drFishFlan

I'm on the 80/20 FTTP and my speeds are normally 76Mbps/20Mbps from the BTW speedtest at http://www.speedtest.btwholesale.com/ . What does this test show for you?

Also what does this say https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed as for me it says 80Mb.

You do lose a bit of speed  from the quoted product due to network overhead.

This is the result of my most recent test... but it is always this speed or a little lower.

Given your upload is set to 20Mbps, I think that something is not set correctly as that seems to indicate that you are on the 80/20 product. @BasilBrush could you please check this

I am fairly sure that I am not on the 20/80

It shouldn't be set to that speed, it is just odd. I hope Basil will look at your account and check out all the settings.

@drFishFlan

You need to edit that image as it shows your phone number Sad

Re: FTTP speeds seem a bit slow on unlimited fibre (33mbps instead of 40mbps)

Alex,

As you are on the Unlimited Fibre package for FTTP as opposed to Unlimited Fibre Extra on FTTP; this explains why you are getting the lesser speeds. I've, however, looked to bump it up to a maximum of 40Mbps though. If you wanted to have the up to 76Mbps speed then we'd have to change the package onto the Fibre Extra which is £5.00 more a month. If you need any further help, as long it's not technical (I have very little knowledge in Technical Support matters), then drop me a further PM.

Kind Regards,

Mark (Basil)
