FTTP coming to my area soon - should I stay with PN or move elsewhere?

looking at the threads here it looks like there is some sort of capacity issue going on.  With FTTP round the corner(have been advised they should have the work done by the summer...) should I start looking elsewhere?
If I do choose to stay, do PN have a package greater than 80/20?  Looking at the website I cant see anything...

With FTTP, you're fairly limited with a choice of providers. BT Consumer offer the full range of speeds (40/10 up to 330/30) whilst Plusnet only offer 40/20 and 80/20. There are other ISPs offering 80/20 FTTP like Zen/AAISP/IDNet, but it comes at a cost and usage isn't unlimited.
I'm on an older package (100/15) with 32 devices currently connected. That speed suits my needs Smiley

I would recommend BT as they have a wider range of packages available!

Just a reminder that FTTP is only how your property connects to the exchange, once at the exchange your traffic joins all the other traffic so any congestion at the exchange/back haul/gateway/peering will affect you. I know from experience.  Sad
Watched Peter Kay's new program on iplayer tonight and at first thought he had based his character on Ronnie Barker from "Open All Hours" but it was just buffering issues.

@ ravingkamikaze
If you were to opt to enter to the FTTP trail the maximum speeds you would be able to receive would be 80/20.

Re: FTTP coming to my area soon - should I stay with PN or move elsewhere?

My son is keen to join Plusnet when his BT contract ends on July 3rd, the problem is that the only fibre service available to his house, and the rest of his street is FTTP.
His ADSL download speed is absolutely rubbish, hence the need for fibre.
The question is are Plusnet taking FTTP customers now or is it still on Trial? Wink

Rather than PMing Matty, please visit trials.plus.net and register your interest there.
