FTTP Completion - Speed Limited?

I've had my fibre installed yesterday, and have had to switch of my copper router to get it to work - it looks like my IP is assigned to both the copper and fibre connection and is causing a routing issue.

Anyway, with the copper router switched off, I'm seeing a pretty consistent 8mb down, and 20mb up. the donwload speed is very similar to my previous copper connection.

I phoned techsupport, however there was a lot of confusion on the phone about the lines, and the call ended with a "problem outside my house" in the cabinet. Which I know isnt right, as I'm on a EO line!

Can anyone from the FTTP team comment.on this - is there something else missing that still needs to be completed on the plusnet side?

Re: FTTP Completion - Speed Limited?

Because it's a trial the FTTP setup isn't integrated into PlusNet back office systems. This generally means phone or "Live Chat" support staff know little or anything about FTTP. This is the best place to get support.

PlusNet usually have to "flick" a switch once your FTTP is installed to get you onto the faster service. Hopefully a FTTP bod will pick this up and check things for you.

Should have mentioned one further point.

If you're planning on cancelling your phone line do it through this forum.

Fix

Welcome to the community forums @alexanderdixon

I've done the necessary on our side now. If you reboot your router you should see a massive increase in speed.

Apologies for the experience you've had with the technical support adviser.
