FTTP : Can we get faster speeds?

I'm on an FTTP package (was part of the "trial") but currently limited to 74Meg. Is there an option to increase speed or do I need to get another provider?

Been a customer for something like 15 years!

@RogerE

You need to go to another provider. In addition Plusnet are no longer offering any discounted 'new contracts' to those on the FTTP trial so you have to pay full wack, see https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-To-The-Premises-trial/End-of-contract/m-p/1715879#M16335 . It's therefore worth checking if you can get a cheaper, faster deal elsewhere.

Re: FTTP : Can we get faster speeds?

500meg with phone through BT - practically same price as I'm paying.

Clearly wanting to drive FTTP customers to parent company BT.

Oh well, I've had a good customer experience over the last 15 years PlusNet, but time to say goodbye!

Any idea if I can keep one or more of my PlusNet email addresses?

@RogerE I believe that you can keep your email account providing that it it is arranged and agreed  before you depart.

Re: FTTP : Can we get faster speeds?

@RogerE

If you have a need for speed then leaving is your only option. From what I recall, you can't even change package now if you're on the Trial - you're stuck with wither 40/10 or 80/20.

If you need your phone then fine - the price may well be comparable. However, PlusNet have previously allowed those on the Trial to cancel their phone line for an internet only surcharge of £2.50. For those who (like me) have cancelled their phone, we won't find a cheaper price anywhere.

Re: FTTP : Can we get faster speeds?

Agreed.  I'm paying £23.49 (no phone line) on a 80/20 service.  BT's most comparable package is £27.99 for a 50/10 service - slower and more expensive...

That said, I can get a 910/110 service but its an eye watering £59.99.  Not sure anything in my house could use that speed anyway!

It will be interesting to see if, with this new  Plusnet policy, they will still allow you to stop the phone line.

It seems incompatible with their policy of no longer offering new contracts to standard dsl customers unless phone rental is paid to Plusnet, or is that just for upgrades?

@Baldrick1

If I recall correctly PlusNet has allowed a cancellation of a phone line after this policy was introduced. Combination of an existing customer with a non standard product.
