FTTP BT Openreach fibre modem blew up! Replacement?

I’ve turned this on today and smelt something burning and realised either the adapter or the modem is dead. How do I go about getting a replacement for this? I’m not sure what type of modem I need for this. Cheers.

Re: FTTP BT Openreach fibre modem blew up! Replacement?

Hi there,

Sorry to see this, that’s not good at all. We’ll need to arrange an engineer to replace this, could you report a fault to us at http://faults.plus.net and post back once you’ve done so?

We’ll then pick this back up as soon as we can and arrange an engineer with you.

Hang on a second there’s no issue with the broadband line as such it’s the FTTP modem requiring the ONT fibre cable that’s broke.

Re: FTTP BT Openreach fibre modem blew up! Replacement?

I’m afraid we don’t stock Openreach modems to order these ourselves so we’ll need to arrange an engineer to replace this.

I’m not actually in the office this weekend, if we don’t pick this up sooner we’ll arrange an engineer with you on Monday.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Re: FTTP BT Openreach fibre modem blew up! Replacement?

@YellaFella

Sorry, I'm confused here.

Is it the ONT box on the wall that's gone kaput or is it the router that plugs into the ONT (with an Ethernet cable).

If it's the router, then any VDSL router will work (if you happen to have a spare).

Thanks for getting back to me @YellaFella

Just to clarify, is the ONT box itself broken or are you referring to the router as Brian’s indicated?

Re: FTTP BT Openreach fibre modem blew up! Replacement?

This is actually the power adapter plug that seems to have blown not the ONT modem itself.

Thanks for clarifying @YellaFella

It looks like you're back up and running as of last night, did you manage to buy your own power adapter?
