Re: FTTC now installed !!

Welcome to the FTTC club Tony Smiley
We all seem to be suffering from this kind of behaviour.
Hopefully PN and BT can get to the bottom of it.
Living in hope anyway. If nothing else the upload speeds are pretty impressive all the time.  Smiley

Re: FTTC now installed !!

Hi  gm4jjj, considering the max I was getting on adsl/adsl2 was 500-750 kbps, anything over a couple of meg is a godsend: however as you said, hopefully they can sort out the extreme drop in the evenings as the 30-35 Meg was just awesome Cheesy

Re: FTTC now installed !!

Well I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too much (or annoy Dave with loads of messages from people who now think he can solve all of our speed issues!).
My issue occurred after changing product from BBYW Option 2 to Extra and the symptoms were high latency, very low down *and* up speeds on mybroadbandspeed.co.uk yet getting full line speed on the BT speedtester.  If you don't have that then it's probably something different.
(And I'm a her btw 😛 )

Re: FTTC now installed !!

hmm, just ran a bt speedtest and got:
Download speedachieved during the test was - 34805 Kbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 8004 Kbps
while speedtest and mybroadbandspeed still giving the 2 Meg (or so) reading

Re: FTTC now installed !!

Re: FTTC now installed !!

I've been doing speedtests periodically throughout the evening, and
10/6/2010 12:40 AM BST   212.56.99.202   35.57 Mb/s   7.89 Mb/s   26 ms   London
10/6/2010 12:15 AM BST   212.56.99.202   6.32 Mb/s   4.65 Mb/s   182 ms   London
10/6/2010 12:03 AM BST   212.56.99.202   8.15 Mb/s   4.69 Mb/s   114 ms   Morecambe
10/5/2010 11:40 PM BST   212.56.99.202   7.24 Mb/s   7.35 Mb/s   94 ms      Morecambe
10/5/2010 11:10 PM BST   212.56.99.202   3.61 Mb/s   6.90 Mb/s   122 ms   Morecambe
10/5/2010 10:23 PM BST   212.56.99.202   2.22 Mb/s   6.48 Mb/s   119 ms   Morecambe
10/5/2010 9:00 PM BST   212.56.99.202   2.11 Mb/s   6.48 Mb/s   126 ms   Morecambe
It almost looks like there is throttling on the line, and it came off at 12.30am ? as it suddently jumped back up
Either that, or lots of people have a 12.30 curfew?  Tongue

Re: FTTC now installed !!

Hi Dave,
My plusnet profile just switched down to 250 kbps so I gave tech support a ring and they bumped it back up to 21000, however they said that the line had dropped a few times in the last 24 hours which is why it dropped?
Seems like quite an extreme drop, considering I was downloading stuff, and had only just performed a speedtest which showed 37 Meg throughput.
If it's dropping, could it be a recurring symptom from pre-fttc - as I did have a fault raised for a dropping connection on adsl2.
(P.S. I should say that one disconnection at 3-4pm was me moving everything around in the study, and i did a disconnect/reconnect during the tel call to support to see if the line speed was back up)

Dave
I'm now up and running. First two speed tests attached.
Looking good so far. Thanks.
